Default The new Atkins Bar Label~!

I was just at Wallmart and saw the new Atkins bar label!

21 gms of carbs! They finally had to fess up to the truth.

Of course below is some kind of explaination that only 2 carbs "count"...but I'm a label reader and I hear that
hidden carbs count too!!!

Anyone else see the new label?

Angry Finally the truth!

Yes, I tried Atkins Endulge Bars and tested myself after and went from very pink to white right away. I KNEW these d~#$% bars were not 2g like it says. These products are driving me crazy, I think I just stay away and keep chewing on a side of beef instead!
Thanks for posting this,

I don't use LC bars, but I'm very impressed with what you reported. If this continues as such, many new low-carbers will not be disallusioned with false lables.

I'd gladly use a 21 grams carb LC bar as a treat, and count it in my carb budget as an occasional treat when I feel a need for it, but at least newbies won't be fooled into making it as a daily habit, thinking it's just 2 grams of carbs.

NSmith,

I'm in Ohio and I saw the new lables on Sunday, at Kroger. It listed them at 21 also. It was kind of weird seeing the old bars and the new ones side by side! What a farce.

At least the newbie low carbers won't think us old timers as insane anymore when we try to explain how those bars really were 21 carbs even though the label said 2 carbs

I am glad the food and drug admin stepped in and made them fess up. Makes it so much easier in the long run.

Angry new labels

Hey all- the way this was explained to me from a
rep. Is that the goverment is making them list all the sugar alcohols in these bars. since they didn't know what category to put them in, they listed them as carbs. I also read and article from the ketofoods web site that states consuming to much sugar alcohol will throw you out of ketosis.
most of these bars have anywhere from 15 to 20 grams of sugar alcohol.

Any other info????

Angry WOW - thanks for sharing

I know that this thread is a little old... but I just read it - I'm a newbie - and WOW am I disappointed... but thankful for your input and info. Yes, I confess that I have been using the bars as a 'replacement' for my normal carbs... I am really having a hard time dropping any weight at all. I went up from 140 to 143... but now back down to 140... think I am going to cut the bars to see what happens. (My keto sticks show pink though so I know I am doing something right). Thanks again.

The "explanation" on the back of these bars say that part of it is fiber and part of it is glycerine. So, are these really not 2 net grams of carbs?!

If they were really 20g, I don't think my ketostix would still be dark pink!

So there.

Yes, you very likely are doing just about everything right. However, a point of fact is that ketones are a byproduct of fat metabolism and breakdown -- just no guarantee that's bodyfat you're metabolizing. Dietary fat breaks down in precisely the same way, leaving ketones.

I am right now in the middle of an intense craving for carbs (I'm on induction) and was about to cave in and have a LC Atkins bar, and then I read this thread. Shoot!
Does this mean the actual ATKINS label was lying about the carbs in their bars? Doesn't that really bother you guys? That's horrible, like being led down the wrong path by your personal shepherd. Or am I wrong??
