You may be aware that Ben & Jerry's have launched a range of low carb ice creams in the US - click here to see the Carb Karma Range.

However, it doesn't look as though it will be available in the UK for a while. Below is an email I have received today, in answer to my question as to whether it would go on sale here or not.



The last time I emailed them about this, they replied that it definitely wouldn't be sold here. So I take heart that, in this email, they are now saying that they will be reviewing their plans on an on-going basis.

Which means that if enough people badger them, they might take notice and start selling the range here ....

When I heard about the range in the US I emailed Ben & Jerrys and was told they had no plans to bring it over to the UK. Glad to see they are slowly changing their minds.

Demi, have you seen/tried the diabetic ice cream at Thorntons yet. That might solve your immediate cravings. It contains 11.3g/£1.35 for a small pot (not sure how small - sorry), no polyols but 9.3g of fructose in the "of sugars" section. So if the fructose is substractable then hey presto! 2g per serving (and it did look small enough to be one serving). Hope it helps anyone with a craving for ice cream!

Thanks for the suggestion - however, I don't have any cravings as such - I'm happy to wait for the B&Js to be introduced in the UK. Plus there's far too much sugar in the Thornton's ice cream for me.

Just in case you didn't know, fructose is NOT deductible - it's pure sugar (as is anything ending in 'ose'), not a sugar alcohol.

Thanks for the info wow, I could not beleive it this is fantastic I will email now . I am new to this and this is day 10 of my Atkins induction soon I am trying to hang in there and this has certainly brightened my day!

I called our commisary and they said they carry B&J's. WOO HOO!

I'm gonna go tomorrow and see for myself and if they have it I'm gonna get some and taste it.

Got the same e-mail response as WJD! I think this is a standard response that is sent to everyone but all the same it might get them thinking!

Afwife we might have to order in bulk from you if your commissary carries it! Probably will not travel well though, although if we are desperate enough we'll find a way!
