Unhappy TOM binging...help

OK - I have been doing great & keeping to between 20 - 35 g. carbs almost everyday since late Jan - a few minor cheats here & there - no problem, back on the wagon...no guilt - move on!

I am seeing the pattern though now that when I start PMS'ing, I want carby, sweet food like no ones business. I go back to my previous, carb eating addiction of chasing something salty with something sweet.

This morning, I gave up and had a Hershey's cookies & cream milkshake, 1 big grab bag of doritos and a sausage egg & cheese biscuit. I feel pretty now - I take responsibility and realize I am going to have to get through the cravings and yukky tummy...

Here is the ??? How to you gals deal w/ TOM? I know others have to have this problem - so what do you do? I know it sounds stupid - I should just make sure I have plenty of LC food on hand and eat that...but it does not seem to be that simple. Has anyone found any tricks to 'quiet the mind'?

For me it was keeping LC foods at the ready and drinking LOTS of water when those urges hit. I also had to have long "talks" with myself, on how it wasn't a good thing to eat something I shouldn't and how awfull I would feel if I did. Don't get me wrong - it wasn't easy!

You could also try to "busy" yourself and try to take your mind off of it.

Well, I don't have cravings too often.

I have developed this outlook that bread, chips and such are poison, and I just won't touch them.

I did have some really bad chocolate cravings not to long ago, so I thought about what I could do that would be semi legal.

I took a half cup of cold heavy cream, Splenda to taste, and a big pinch of cocoa powder, and whipped it up, which made a suprising amount of chocolate whipped cream. I wouldn't call it healthy, but it's pretty low in carbs for a dessert type thing.

. . . I felt like a naughty naughty girl slowly eating it with a spoon while I lounged on the couch!! Really took away my need for chocolate and I was full afterwards. I looked up in Fitday and half a cup of heavy cream has 3.32 g of carbs, so add a little more for the cocoa podwer and it's not bad for a dessert!
