Default Step Aerobics - totally 80's, but effective?

Hello All,
Anyone here do step aerobics?
I have heard it burns major calories and gets your legs really toned.

If anyone does, please recommend DvDs to follow.

Thanks in advance!

Anything that gets you moving! Does your cable box allow you "on demand" programs? If so check out the exercise TV. I have seen step routines on there.

Oh this is so funny. I've been trying and trying to stick to an abdominal strengthening program -- I have a degenerative disc in my lower spine and I know that I have to strengthen my core. But every time I started an abs program, I would do crunches for like a week and then quit.

Then lo and behold three weeks ago I found my old "Ten Minute Abs" video that I bought back in the '80s -- with the way-too-cheerful Denise Austin. I dusted off my VCR, hooked it back up, and put in the tape.

It's SO cheesy but I've been doing the ab routines every single morning! And it's working! No abs of steel yet -- but I'm finally sticking to something! And I've been kind of embarassed to admit that I'm working out to this ancient video, and now I find a THREAD of other people doing it. LOL!

Hi! Just want to let you know that I am a step "junkie". I discovered step back in the 90's and I fell in love with it. I am not a "dance" person so I would get very frustrated with most aerobic videos because I couldn't get the moves down. I happened to pick up Step Reebok - The Video. This is very straight forward, basic and easy to follow. Gin Miller is the instructor and is actually the inventor of step aerobics. She made several other videos with Reebok some interval training as well as some circuit training. I think I must own every single one! Collage Video is an excellent website - Search that by Instructor name (Gin Miller) or you can even search by "step". Step has always done wonders for me as far as toning up and loosing weight. I started low carbing last week and so I haven't added exercise back into the mix. But when I'm ready I intend to pull out the step and get back into it. Good luck!!!

I still have my old Jane Fonda Step aerobic steps (all 3 parts) and the video cassette! I was just thinking about getting it out and hooking up the vcr again. I did this workout 5 times a week when I did Atkins about 6 years ago. It was a good and sweaty workout.
