Default All WPI’s are not created equal!

I’ve just bought a new brand of unflavoured whey protein isolate and the difference between this product and the one I’ve just finished is unbelievable. The last brand I used was made by ‘Boomers’ and had the consistency of ash. You couldn’t even breathe around it for fear of the powder flying everywhere. The new brand I’ve just bought is by ‘Fortis’ and the difference is amazing. This is a much nicer product….the consistency is like powdered milk. It has 0.7g carbs per 100g and at $40 a kilo the price is right too.

I use the "Balance" brand in Vanilla - and I love it! It has a higher carb value than the one you're using (4.5%), but it is flavoured and sweetened (with sucralose). So, the only thing I add is ice, water and cream. It's not only a great breakfast (keeps me going until lunch), but it tastes wonderful. Sometimes I have it in the afternoon as a "treat". I like that it also contains L-Glutamine and is loaded with protein!

Keep on shaking!

I prefer to have the unflavoured powder then I can use it in everything and add my own sweeteners etc. I've only just started making smoothies and am thrilled that I'm allowed to drink these decadent delights. I use frozen strawberries, raspberries and blueberries with a little cream, WPI, water, DaVinci syrup and psyllium husk. They're faaaaaaaaaantastic.
Discovering smoothies and FibreX cheese and bacon muffins have made my life complete!

just be aware that wpi protien assimilates into the body very quickly. This speed of digestion is all well and good just after a heavy weights workout but may be too fast for normal use.
If the body cant use it, it will store it around the waistline!!

ok so what can you do to slow things down....
1. fibre ( psyllium, a plate of vege's, saw dust )
2. fats ( not too keen on cream because of sat fats, but flax oil hides well in a shake )
3. use a casein powder instead of a whey ( casein will *clot* in your stomach and make you fuller for longer )

not too keen on cream because of sat fats,

Hi Morgan, just FYI, saturated fats only cause us problems if taken with sugar and/or starches. Every single study that shows sat. fats as harmful, has always included the concomitant consumption of sugars.

Have a look at this study.

Cheers.

interesting study on trans fats
I do understand the blurred links between dietry fat and serum cholesterol

dont get me wrong here, i am certainly a red meat eating carnavore, and love cream over sf jello

I believe there are degrees of badness, trans are the worst, sats middle and omegas the best

What i do advocate is where you use things as a filler ( ie cream in shakes ) maybe its better to use those calories in a wiser way ( ie omega oils )

The other thing for me is I eat a controlled carb diet
usually in my lc periods I eat about 100g of carb a day, hence my body spends some with raised insulin, hence need to be a little more careful than a strict lc-er

mm and new word for the day concomitant is it....
con-co-mit-ant?
con-comi-tant ?
