Well i'm here in search of help..i'll make it quick and simple.
I've been tested for like EVERYTHING. What happened was 2 weeks before my flight instructor checkride in 2005 I came down with heavy severe nausea, abdominal pains, fever.. white blood cells in the urine (UTI) but it wouldn't culture out at all...many times we tried..and failed.
For some reason, my doctor put me on flagyl first (which from what i've learned is not usually given for a UTI) and I had some weird reaction to it that sent me to the ER room extremely dehydrated and having spasms in my lower gut near bladder area. After negative tests for C. difficile they sent me home and I was on antibiotics for 2+ months trying to kill whatever infection it was (cipro/levaquin/avlelox/flagyl again in case of c. difficile). This is when my chronic nausea started. And my IBS issues went bezerk. Ever since then i've done mass testing..CT scans..colonsocpy..endoscope..even a systoscope (not fun ..esp for us guys), IVP..MRI.. you name it..
The infection/fever went away and white blood cells but I was left feeling worse and couldn't fly. Over the years I've been to 3 GI specialists who have all said the same thing "IBS" "Spastic Colon" and I have friends and people online who are flying and dealing with IBS flying at the airlines but i'm too nauseated and in pain to even drive a car.
Frustrated I asked my doctor about Candida, and he ruled it out saying "stool tests/blood tests negative" and just to make me happy he gave me 15 days of nystatin and only like 3 days worth of diflucan due to liver risk. But i'm suspecting it because i'm sooo tired..can't sleep..constipation like crazy..left side spastic colon...sweaty palms..face flush..can't concentrate worth a dang..also found out I was low on potassium and i'm taking potassium pills but from my reseaerch low potassium levels do not cause IBS.
I have a hunch it's been Candida..I took the online test and scored very high - can't sleep..my left side feels like someone kicked me and i'm doing fiber/water/exercise/antispasmotics..everything I can but I can't get it to work...and now unemployed
Any advice? Does this sound like possible Candida?? I'm trying no sugar/yeasts ect.. (I think I need to find a doctor that will let me really try a few months of nysatin. I should have done the glass of water routine but I just took my first pill of nystatin. Hopefully it's safe to take the short course of diflucan with nystatin but I don't think 3 days is gonna do squat.. oh well it was worth a try buggin him)
any advice? Even if you get negative tests blood/stool it's still worth trying right? Why are doctors so against this? Seems like it would make a lot of sense... especially being chronically sick like I am...
