Default Induction?

Somebody else will no doubt have a different opinion, but i think this is fairly safe for induction..its super low carbs, the only dodgy thing would be the buttermilk, and i have replaced that with sourcream/heavy cream the last couple of times i made them..tastes great

MissScruff if you read Atkin's newer books, I believe I read it in Atkin's Essentials, it DOES include Atkins Tortillas and Bread.

I too miss mcdonald's breakfasts! I make my own mock bacon, egg, and cheese bisquit. I will post it in a new thread, so check it out!!!

Yes, but the Essentials book was written by Atkins Nutritionals, not by Dr Atkins. AN happens to sell bread and tortillas. Hmmm...

Well any way a lot of people are a little worried about eating this on the inerduction phase. Can I make one suggestion maybe just waight intill you are done with interduction it is only two weeks most of you are already almost done the phase. I would not risk it. I think Dr Atkin wanted you to stick to that plan so your body would go threw a cemical change. That is why it is so stricked so maybe stick to the basics for 2 weeks. I on the other hand made it threw the interduction and am going to eat one of these as an award for doing it. One question any one know the carb count on one of these ??

You can have 20 grams of carbs per day during induction. The average low carb tortilla goes for around 3 grams of carbs per. Therfore, you can have them during induction if you choose. Just make sure you do not go over the 20 grams a day.

The grams per day is the most important part... the types of foods are more suggestions than anything. You can lose weight just fine during induction with the low-carb tortillas.

Im sorry but I beg to differ with you KajunDC. Induction is MUCH more that staying under 20 grams of carbs a day. Those 20 carbs should be only from the allowed list. The purpose of induction is to break your eating/cravings and to switch your body from burning sugar to burning fat. I choose to loose healthier with whole foods from the induction list that Dr Atkins listed not the people who are running a business now, Atkins Nut. , If they did not add their products to the allowed list they couldnt sell them.

And tommie, you do all that by staying under the 20 grams of carbs.

Believe it or not but even Dr. Atkins changed his routine as he learned things along the way. The allowed food list is to give those that don't know what a carb is or where it comes from a list of foods to eat. It is not written in stone and is not the only things allowed.

If you stay under 20 grams of carbs a day during induction, it will work.

Oh boy then, Im gonna use my 20 grams on chocolate!!!!!

NOT

I guess we all have our own interpratation of how to do this woe.

I think it mostly boils down to finding what works for you weather someone else agrees with you or what you choose to do works for someone else.

2005 atkins induction

http://atkins.com/Archive/2004/12/28-312957.html

day 10 says low carb tortillas.

theres another thread on this forum somewhere that has an argument about this. some of the members feel that eating these low carb breads, tortillas, cake mixes, chocolate, etc. during induction will make it harder to get rid of your cravings for these kinds of foods. has anyone that actually ate these kinds of low carb foods that were once not allowed on induction still have successful results with the diet and minimizing cravings? wow run on sentence. 2:50am sorry. hope that made sense

Question A Newbie Question.......

Ok y'all, I'm jumpin' in here with both feet, so please be nice to me...I'm a virgin !!!
This may not be the place for this post, but as long as we're talking carb amounts...
The book says 3 cups of salad veggies or 2 cups of salad veggies and 1 cup of other veggies a day.
This has been hard for me since I'm a real "other veggies" fan...I would rather have 2 cups of 'other veggies' and 1 cup of salad.
So on the Atkins site with the sample 2005 Induction meals, some days have LOTS of veggies, like this day for example:

Day 6 - Net Carbs - 18

Breakfast
4 - Garden Frittata
1 - 1/2 cup cucumber slices

Lunch
4 - Steak quesadilla: steak slices, one slice Monterey Jack and a low-carb tortilla
2 - 2 cups romaine with olive oil and vinegar

Dinner
0 - Grilled tuna with spice rub
2 - 1/2 cup zucchini and 1/2 cup mushrooms grilled on kebabs
4 - 2 cups arugula and endive salad with 1 tablespoon Atkins Quick Quisine™ “Sweet as Honey” Mustard Dressing

Snack
1 - 1/2 cup broccoli florets with lemon mayonnaise (combine 1 tablespoon lemon juice with mayonnaise)

By my count, that's 6 cups of veggies, not counting the veggies in the frittata......
What's up with that ???

I'd say personally I really try to follow the Induction phase with the DANDR way of it. But in that book it does say you may also include from time to time those Atkins Advantage Bars. I think it all has to do with the best choices of certain brands of low carb items, because they all are not the same. For instance I love the La Tortilla Factory low carb tortillas & they have 2 different sizes, the regular size is 3 net carbs and the larger size is 5 net carbs, Most of the total carbs for the tortilla's end up being mostly fiber (which is a good thing!!!) I can understand if most of the total carbs were broken down in too many sug.alcohols or something of that sort, then I could see why the stalls & such.

So all in all, I don't personally use them during induction or "re-induction" But, I don't really see why it'd be a problem really for Induction phase. Everyones body is different

I'm sorry, pork rinds are not specifically mentioned but neither is venison or rabbit, but they're all MEAT, which is definitely allowed on induction.
