CNN today reports that the Florida OJ producers have
effectively declared war on low-carbers.
They believe they have the right to make people drink
orange juice, when as Dr. Atkins said, "all you really need is a
Vitamin C tablet." Now that low-carb is approaching mainstream,
we're seeing profiteers jump on this trend but also a
growing backlash by carb-pushers.
Dr. Atkins years ago stated bluntly that the sugar industry
suppressed cyclamate because it presented too
much of a threat to sugar's market. Could
it be the only way we're now being 'allowed' to have our
low-carb products, is because sugar has found
a way to make low-carb sugar, and preserve their
profits? Dr. Atkins and sugar kissed and made up over
good "splendida", and are now united against bad aspartame!
I'm not saying aspartame may not have risks, but if
the alternative has similar problems I hope we would be told about it.
We are no junk food producers 'market' without our consent.
I for one would stay low carb even if it did not particularly
help me lose weight, simply because I can walk down the
chip and cookie aisle at the supermarket and not feel a thing--
no desire to throw that junk in my cart at all! And THAT is
very threatening to agriculture and food manufacturers. We
are no longer enslaved by junk food.
I hope that we won't see a backlash against Low-carb
and have to go 'underground' to avoid nagging and heckling
from family and friends, but there are strong industry segments
that would love to see low-carb dieting debunked and banished!
They will go to great lengths to prove that cheez puffs, fried
potato chips, cookes, and soda are 'part of a nutritious diet 'when
consumed in moderation' when you and I know that to a carb addict,
they're pure crack!!!!
Love y'all-- lie low & hang tough if the tide turns.
