Yikes! I'm so sorry. Are they sure it was a heart attack? I know they often give that as a preliminary diagnosis and then find out it was something else. I think Candyflip went through that too.

I've read two books by Uffe Ravnskov, MD, PhD. The Cholesterol Myths and and Ignore the Awkward! How the Cholesterol Myths are Kept Alive

If I were to chose between Kendrick and Coplo I would go with Kendrick. Lately Coplo strikes me as a rude, arrogant loud mouth know it all.

You may also want to listen to Jimmy Moore interviewing Malcolm Kendrick

and
Listen to Dr. Uffe Ravnskov Says Fat And Cholesterol Are Good For You! (Episode 339)

It's probably also worth listening to the inteviews with Chris Masterjohn. Here is a link to an older one but there are a couple of newer ones.
Chris Masterjohn On The Health Benefits Of Cholesterol (Episode 314)

Spacedoc as well is worth hearing You'll find links to Spacedocs site at this link and do read the section on statins and women.

Your brain is reliant on cholesterol for neuroprotection. It worries me that lowering cholesterol will increase mental health problems and dementia.

Your brain needs cholesterol - don't go too low.

See also this blogpost from Ned Kock.

I found Kendrick's book an entertaining and informative read. I've not read the Colpo one, can't stand the man. I'm not sure you will need to read both Kendrick and Ravnskov there is probably sufficient of his work available free on Spacedoc's site to see where he's coming from.

Cardiovascular Professor saw himselfSorry about the poor quality of the automatic google translation but as I'd been talking about Ravnskov it's interesting to see him in action replying to an anti Low Carb article in the Swedish press.

It is deplorable for the Karin Schenk-Gustafsson , who is a professor in cardiovascular diseases, has not complied with in the medical literature in their field. "All research to date," she writes, "clearly show that animal fat and products with high cholesterol is not good for the heart."
The professor has apparently not noticed the latest review articles, where some of the world's leading nutrition researcher after a thorough review of all dietary studies conclude that saturated fat is harmless. There is not one single experiment which has succeeded in reducing hjärdödligheten by replacing saturated fat with something else, and more than 30 studies have shown that cardiac patients have not eaten more saturated fat than others. There are even several studies that have shown that stroke patients have been eating less saturated fat than healthy.

The professor as the sole evidence pulls the Karelia project from the 70s underlines her lack of knowledge. It is true that cardiovascular mortality decreased in Karelia, but it started to decline several years before health campaign began, and mortality decreased in the rest of Finland, although it was only in Karelia, the campaign was going on.
The professor did not even consider the many experiments in which patients with diabetes or its precursor, the metabolic syndrome has been healthy with a LCHF diet. Blood glucose normalized, insulin sensitivity as well, the weight drops and your blood pressure goes down, it all without adverse effects on cholesterol levels.

Many of our so-called experts warn against LCHF diet because there are no long term studies. What happens after many years, asking the inquisitorial. It is obviously important to study this. All short-term studies, however, improved all the laboratory values, which are associated with a poor prognosis. In addition, many of the patients able to reduce or stop their diabetes medication without adverse effects. That a diet with these characteristics would have negative effects on long-term seems unlikely.
The absurdity of the professor's warnings against LCHF diet is that the current dietary advice, which we received in the last 20-25 years without any credibility. They were based solely on speculation, no one had shown that they acted in real life and no one has been able to show it later either. That they did not work demonstrates the explosive increase in obesity and diabetes, which has lasted since then.

Schenk-Gustafsson argues that specialists in the world is in complete agreement. Apparently she knows not to Nutrition & Metabolism Society of New York professor Richard D. Feinman at the head, nor to THINCS, The International Network of Cholesterol Skeptics. These two organizations together consists of several hundred international researchers with an entirely different approach to diet.

The treatment of diabetes is accompanied by cholesterol campaign is simply the largest medical scandal in recent history.
Uffe Ravnskov ,
PhD, Associate Professor
Lund

The Saturated fat meta analysis he is alluding to is probably Meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies evaluating the association of saturated fat with cardiovascular disease
My emphasis at the end of his piece.
It's truly disgraceful that we insist on feeding carbs to people with faulty glucose metabolism. One day we may work out how/why We are increasing Alzheimer's incidence
