Default Yucky problem

Ive just started my third week of low carbing and really enjoy it. Ive managed to lose half a stone where Id stalled for a month on low fat eating. I have a problem though in that I haven't had a bowel movement for 3 days. I'm not in pain but I do feel a but clogged. Im eating around 22 - 24 g of carbs a day and eating lots of salad and vegetables. I take muti-vitamins. amongst other things such as vitamin c and cod liver oil capsules...should I take a fibre supplement? Or laxatives? Or something that could stop me feeling as if one bowel movement could equal 3 lbs?

1-Buy magnesium and take 500mg

2-Go to the meat section or butcher and ask them for left over fat, grill it or fry it(no need to add butter ha!) and eat it.

And......hot lemon water first thing in the morning before you eat or drink anything else. That always helps me 'go'

Congrats on the first 7lbs gone

Default Try flax

I was staring to get the same prob. I got some organic ground flax seed and I eat 1 teaspoons a day with water. According to the package 2 Tablespoons is 5 gram of carb. It has done the job. And I think it's making my skin softer. Least the boyfriend seems to think so!

Magnesium will do the trick. I always take it before bed with my calcium and it helps me get a good nights rest.

Congrats on your weight loss and hope things get moving soon!

I strongly support the Flax and Extra Virgin Coconut oil..

I make the Banana Nut Flax muffins that are posted in the recipe section... I also use Coconut oil in them... Between the two of them I have never had any problems using the restroom.

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is a great way to get good healthy fats into your diet.. It will also keep you regular. I strongly recommend it.

Probably for the time being though... I would do the Milk of Manesia or something to get it going for now... then adjust your diet to include these other factors.

I have the same stubborn problem. Magnesium and coconut oil didn't work for me. Haven't tried the hot lemon water or the tea; making a mental note of those.
I remember trying flax sometime ago, and having quite an exciting and moving bathroom experience. Maybe I'll give that another go.

I agree with the others who suggested magnesium. I take 500 mg every night and it works perfectly. It also helps me sleep through the night, whereas before I'd wake up a few times.

Just to be clear, since this statement is a little fuzzy...

Two tablespoons of flax meal have less than 1 gram of "carb you count" when going by Atkins. The remainder of the carbohydrate count listed is the fiber component.

So unless you are counting total carbohydrate consumed vs. net carbohydrate consumed, the recommended "dose" (if you will) of flax to relieve constipation is starting at one tablespoon daily and adjust up or down until the desired effect is reached.

This is right off the Bob's Red Mill site... it's the nutritional values for Golden Flax meal which is what I use...

https://www.bobsredmill.com/catalog...info.php?id=447

so I don't count any net carbs for this... 4 carbs subtracting 4 fibers equals Zero in my book.

I go by My P.L.A.N., which uses the USDA's nutrition facts. 2 tbsp (13 grams) has 4.5 total carbs, 3.6 from fiber. Of course, this is for regular flax. However, Bob's Red Mill claims 0 net for that too, which it obviously isn't.
