Default OWL Question

I know when we start to up our carbs we should do it with low carb veggies to begin. What I want to do is raise my carbs by 5 for a week, then drop back to 20 to see if that helps my body from getting into a rut.

My question is though, with adding more veggies, how in the heck are we supposed to keep up our fat ratio? Adding more dairy would also add more carbs and isn't suposed to be done until after veggies same with nuts, though I do love my macadamias

Cool

No need to be so precise that you drive yourself crazy about all this. Just do your thing, eat until comfortable, then STOP & it will work out for you-really... With all the different veggies we have available to us in this country, I've never felt like I was in a rut, and my body did keep steadily losing, 1-2 pounds per week.

As for fat, you can get plenty of that from meat, checken, etc.

Good Luck!

Default owl

i'm not sure if increasing your carbs by 5 and then dropping back down to 20 is the way to go... you should be adding carbs to slow the weightloss and get used to the new way of eating so in the end, you are eating lowcarb w/out having to think about it... the closer you get to your goal, the more carbs you add and then eventually - stop losing...

purpose of owl (from www.atkins.com):

- continue to burn and dissolve fat

- maintain control of your appetite sufficiently to control cravings

- learn your threshold Level of Carbohydrate Consumption, which will allow you to continue to lose weight

- eat a broader range of healthy foods, selecting those you enjoy most

- learn to make the most nutrient-rich choices among carbohydrate foods

- deliberately slow your rate of weight loss to lay the groundwork for permanent weight management

i have been on owl for several weeks and have just basically added more types of foods - lowcarb bread, tortillas, fruit, nuts and have been doing fine... i haven't lost weight every week but i haven't gained either and i'm fine with that... this is a longterm process and i take each day at a time... :-)

hope that helps!
