Nuts Nuts Nuts!!
Sooooo...just curious about your experience with nuts on Keto/Low Carb
Last time around(being the first) my only nuts were smoked almonds and almond flour. Buuuuut...someone told me that almonds in high quantities can cause inflammation in the body so i cut back.
This time around.. I began to crave candied nuts..so i found a good keto low carb sugar free candied pecan recipe using swerve. So i made it and yum!! Now i meticulously count carbs and calories and if you know about nuts you know that a small amount of pecans can add up to lots of fat abd calories.. so i started thinking..
Why not make a homemade trail mix that i can pre-measure and keep with me for snacking. So i did.. The recipe included
1 lb of pecan pieces(not halved or whole)
2 cups unsweetned cocoanut flakes
1 cup flaked blanched almond slices
And 1 cup of Krisda stevia sweetned chocolate chips
The total amount of the number of servings equals 40
A serving is measured out to be 52 grams
Roughly 3- level 1/8cup scoops. (Found this out by measuring and weighing)
The stats on my recipe = 146.6 calories and 1.6 Net Carbs per serving.
My question is this- I can easily eat 2 to 3 servings per day. Now hear me out..I am addicted to Maltitol based chocolate and I am attempting to become a recovering maltitol addict by subbing mu maltitol dark chocolate with my krisda stevia chocolate chips(its an accquired taste i noticed) But...even stevia sweetned choco chips eaten alone can contain 2carbs per tbsp..hence why i scatter them throughout my trail mix. Fool me into thinking im eating more of em when im not.
So i eat 2-3 servings of my trail mix...I am curious as to whether this can be a diet breaker though? What is your experience with consuming nuts on keto/low carb? Did it stall you from losing???
