Hi all, help with a question please?

I've been retaining water, and was advised to get potassium suppliment. I bought one today from a pharmacy after searching for a couple of days for one that doesn't contain lactose or fructose or sugar of any kind. It seems its really hard to buy such a creature in Australia. They all seems to have at least lactose.

I bought some in the end from a pharmacy. The chemist told me they had no sugar, but he wasn't sure about lactose. There is no label, so i'm nervous.

Exactly how much damage would taking a vitamin that might contain some no-no's do? I imagine the quantity would have to be pretty small if it is there. Should I take the risk? I did take some this morning and they do seem to be helping with the fluid output

Thanks
Kim

I'm going to be brutally honest, and succinct so that no one misunderstands me.

Induction (and in some regards OWL -ongoing weight loss) is VERY sticky about EVERY single CARB and VERY ADAMANT about NO SUGAR, NO PROCESSED FOODS.

This extreme vigilance is GOOD - don't get me wrong - it puts the new low carber into the correct mind set, and as a result new behaviours and attitudes are learned.

But I get sad when I hear people say, "Oops, I licked a drop of sugar-ladden ice cream off my 3 year old's forearm before it hit the Persian carpet - Do I have to start Induction over again??"

The answer is no. If inadvertently you ingest a miniscule amount of a NO-NO item - it won't do you a bit of harm.

In order of importance of low carb rules for the average low carber, I would put Drinking Water as the first one, and Choosing Vitamins Without Additives at about #18.

Default So its ok?

Thanks LC sponge for your advice.

So even on induction a potassium pill that might contain lactose is ok. Thanks for the reassurance. Sorry if I seem to be wanting to do this too much to the letter. I had a bit of a problem first 2 weeks due to sweeteners, so I'm doing induction again and want to make sure its done right this time.

Thanks
Kim
