I know what you mean - I usually bring my lunch too. I love (used to love) going to Amici's in Mountain View...but the best thing there is the pizza.....they have a good antipasto salad though

here's a good website for counting carbs & other nutritional items http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl

I don't know why it's taken me three months to poke my head in here. I'm in Walnut Creek, and pleased to make your acquaintance. I recently met in person a fellow LC'er who lives in Ben Lomond (N. of Santa Cruz), where I used live and never wanted to leave. This is not to brag, just to show that we can connect in the real world.

Antoinette, perhaps the three of us can get together when I'm next down that way. If you want to contact my BL LC buddy directly, go to the Eades LC forums at http://bbs.eatprotein.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi, and look for posts by someone with the handle of "Tortoise." I'll e-mail her and tell her she has a LC neighbor.

I'm going to bed now, but I'll be back!

luv6fire,
I hope that you are still out there on this forum. I want to thank you very much for the info on Sweet Treats in Redding. I finally took the time to drive over when I was in Weaverville last week. What a great store, all sort of neet things!!! I sure wish we had a store like that in Eureka. The owner is talking about maybe a web site. Once again thanks for the info. Try and stay cool, it was 108 when I was there last week. After moving away from Fresno, I had forgotten how hot the valley can get.

I too am new to LC-ing... 5 weeks and 16 pounds later I am an addict! I too am up in No Cal in Red Bluff (near Redding).

I can't wait to try Sweet Treats in Redding. I travel frequently, so I am able to shop out of the area and via the internet, but it sure is nice to find someplace local to shop.

There is a great health food stor in Chico called S&S Produce that has a great selection of Atkins products, and they cost less than the same products at GNC, a store that I do not care to go into.

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Karen

Hello fellow Northern Californians. I'm in the East Bay (Contra Costa) ...still trying to figure out the best places to eat out while on induction. Anything with a burger I guess, right?

There's a Trader Joe's not too far away, over in Concord. I'll probably start shopping there soon.

RJ,

We're neighbors -- I'm in Walnut Creek!

Chinese is always a good bet -- if you stick to a meat and veggies dish, and tell them to hold the sauce.

Thai food is good, too -- order something with coconut milk, and drink all the sauce for its good fats.

If you're willing to make and carry around your own salad dressings, any protein-laden salad (Caesar minus the croutons, Cobb, fish) is fine.

I don't know what TJ's has in the way of prepared foods -- I'm on a tight budget, so most of my meals are homemade.

Hey kdwilliams!
I'm in Marina! I haven't been able to find anyone from this area yet, so it's nice to hear from you!
Have you found any good resources for LC stuff around here?

Hello fellow low-carbers. I'm in the Concord/Walnut Creek area and just started a low carb program. I'm waiting for my copy of Dr. Bernstein's book in the mail. If there are any support groups in this area I'd love to join in.
Keith
