Good morning all,
I hope you don't mind, but I would like to join
Thanksgiving has never been a problem for me since we keep it simple due to picky eaters. We did have pumpkin and sweet potato pie and apple pie. I am not a fan of pies so I skipped those.
Christmas on the other hand it is a trigger for me. I love Christmas and all its goodies. My boys love to bake cookies with me and we usually do a different cookie recipe every week in December. This year, we agree we are only baking two types of cookies and no more.
I am Hispanic and there are certain dishes that we only eat during Christmas time and my family is looking forward to them. Most of the meals are fried, we also compromised and will be only making two of them
I am planning on:
- Not eating any sweets. This one is going to be hard because for the last 4 months my sugar dragon has been out of control. in fact, today will be my first day without sweets, so wish me luck. The last time I stopped eating added sweets, I did it for 4 months.
- Allowing myself a Christmas treat, which is pretty much a tradition for me. I waited for the whole year to eat it and I know it will be too hard for me to not have it. It is a fried savory treat made of corn. It is called empanada (it is like a turnover made of corn instead of flour) filled with meat and potatoes.
