Plan: No sugar No starch
Stats: 391/384/225 Female 70

Just a note, I'm still going strong. For the first few weeks I cheated about once a week... With a giant spoonful of peanut butter. I haven't felt a need or want for that matter in several weeks.
I will keep you posted , especially after I visit the doctor next month.

Welcome Beth,

Sorry I did not see your post sooner, but you seem to be doing well with the No Sugar, No Starch diet from the Duke Lifestyle Clinic. If you were a clinic patient, your blood glucose, BP, electrolytes would be monitored closely to start. The diet alone is powerful and any medications may need to be adjusted quickly. But as long as you are not having health issues with that...itís just real food. There are other threads on this forum about Dr. Westmanís plan, though how to get the most current information has changed over the years, so here are the updates.

If you want to learn more:

An old Class Teaching Video, but he presents the diet in the same way to new patients:

His new blog, with his research, etc.

His LC Course and many more presentations at the DietDoctor website:

You may not be a fan of Facebook, but he has a support group there that is the on-line presence of the monthly IRL support meetings that happen in Durham NC. All the admins are current or former patients, like myself. You can watch the meetings on FB Live, archives, or just ask questions.

The Adapt Your Life company tapes many videos of him answering questions, and gives one day events around the country. Iíve been posting them in this forum, Renee went to one recently.

A few samples of the video answers to FAQs about the diet:

Three Biggest Keto Mistakes (net carbs, letting macros drive your protein, adding too much fat)

The Difference Between Total Carbs & Net Carbs

What Should My Fat Intake Be On a KETO Diet?

How to Go Keto the EASY WAY (Tips & Tricks)

On this forum is a post about keto diets and mental health. Dr Chris Palmer updated Dr. Westman's case study on the positive impact with one of his patients.

Look forward to hearing of your results.
