I'm doing the bouncing that I always do. Sometimes it's the new low. Sometimes it's not.

Strange night as it was drizzly and only had about 35 kids. The first year we lived here (11 years ago) we had over 200 and I ran out and had to steal some from my kids' bags. I guess all the neighborhood kids have grown up. Each kid got a handful. Not much candy left. It will be going to work with the Hubs.

Default Halloween Bust

Managed to avoid halloween altogether by dressing up as a swimmer doing laps in the pool Empty nest or would have been Epic fail. I did feel a little candy craving so I open the freezer and found some Atkins chocolate coconut bars. Closed my eyes and pretended it was a Bounty...just the right amount of junk

Still bouncing back and forth...but bouncing above 148 is better than what I was bouncing above a year ago!

Who has their US Thanksgiving plan of attack all prepared? I do! I do!

We had a similar experience. When we first moved in 23 years ago it was a new neighborhood and there were zillions of kids dropping by on Halloween and we even ran out of treats a time or two. Then it slowly died down as the kids aged. But it is kind of like the baby boom generations. Wave number two appears to be on the rise as the empty nesters move out and are replaced with those starting a family. The last two years we've gotten a more kids dropping by. You know you are getting old when you notice this kind of thing.

The company I work for has a tradition of supplying employees with a turkey every Thanksgiving. I'll be picking mine up today. We did our shopping for the Thursday feast last night. The family wanted some traditional favorites on the table. I won't be eating the mashed potatoes, stuffing, dinner rolls, pumpkin pie or Hershey's chocolate cream pie (you can blame my wife for that). I will be eating turkey, mixed veggie salad, faux potato salad (grandma's recipe, subbing cauliflower for potatoes), olives, deviled eggs, cottage cheese, steamed veggies, chia seed pudding and LC pumpkin cheesecake for desert. I'm stuffed already.

For those in the US - Have a Happy OP Thanksgiving!

I'm picking up my locally raised fresh turkey tomorrow. (Yes, I AM a turkey snob. )

The green beans from the garden, along with the slivered almonds, the gravy made with xanthan gum, the sautéed cabbage with bacon, a quarter cup of potatoes/sweet potatoes mash, TURKEY and s/f cranberries and a slice of the low carb pumpkin pie with real whipping cream are MINE. But I'll share.

I'll leave the dinner rolls, the rutabaga junk, and the sugary dessert that SIL will undoubted bring for the rest.

Almost forgot! Ken, your photo of your first LC Thanksgiving, with the deviled eggs, inspired me to make them last year. They were a hit, so they're going on the table this year, too.

THANKS!

I know Thanksgiving night is a strange time to recommit to lowcarb. I can't stand myself. I have never made it cheat free a week. This week I went to the plus size store and for the first their clothes fit.

I have things against me right now - injuries, steroids, a non cooking, food storage housing. So I might need some help figuring out what to eat, cause nuts and peanut butter aren't cutting it. I get so hungry I eat at Taco Bell or 7/11 everyday.

Welcome to Idiotville. I'll be your host and guide this evening.
A supplement I'm taking to try to improve symptoms is acting like a steroid and causing me to retain water. And my little inner brat is pulling a "woe is me" bit and I've been eating too much too often and gaining weight. Time to pull the parachute cord and get this puppy back under control.

Default Mug Cake Heaven

Hi Jess,

V interested in finding your recipe for choc lava mug cake w cream cheese frosting.
Last night when I was looking for a lc thxgiving dessert I tried a mug cake recipe and it was amazing!!! and so easy
I made it w 2tbs of almond flour, 1tbs of coconut flour, 1 egg, half tsp b soda, skinny vanilla syrup and 3 blackberries.
Next time I want to go crazy and make a chocolate lava with cacao nibs and Hersheys sf choc syrup.
Would love to hear more about mug cakes from anyone. I'm a huge fan

Default Pumpkin Cheesecake

Hi Ken and friends in LC places,
Where would I find your recipe for Lc pumpkin cheesecake?

I have most of the ingredients sitting in the pantry waiting for inspiration.
Thinking about a pecan crust. Dreaming about adding fresh ginger to maybe the pumpkin layer? Worrying about spoiling it all with too much artificial sweetener

Breezing through Thanksgiving turkey and lc trimmings but getting hung up on the desserts which were always my downfall.
This is the year I wish to learn how to make some decadent but healthy LC sweets going bravely into the New year

Nawchem - ANY day is a good day to recommit to healthy eating! And yeah, the FIRST time you have to buy plus size clothes is a major downer. I remember that happening to me about 18 years ago. Problem is, I tried to lose the excess weight by going lower-fat (as recommended by my doctor) and the weight kept piling on until missy sizes became a distant memory that I never even hoped to ever reattain. Then I accidentally found this WOE and the rest is history. Love, love, love being able to slip into size 10s and 12s again! You are making a great decision to put a halt to the weight gain right now rather than thinking "I'll start a diet on New Year's Day." We're all here pulling for you. YOU CAN DO THIS! (P.s. - I tried to send you a private msg but apparently you've exceeded your forum storage space and need to clear something out before you can get any more msgs!)

Jess - You were one of the folks who helped me pull back from the brink when I was slipping into the abyss back last February/March. So sorry to hear that supplements for med conditions are making things difficult for you right now. But you definitely do NOT belong in "Idiotville" so don't be putting yourself down! What with homeschooling four kids and health issues that interfere with getting a good night's sleep, you have a huge amount on your plate! You're handling it with an amazing amount of grace and courage. Honestly, I'd have given up and popped all four kids into public school at least for awhile just so I'd have a few hours everyday to myself...and maybe time for a nap! So give yourself credit, dear friend. I know, you will figure things out.

Had to post because I actually managed to go down a pound the day after Thanksgiving. Might just be because we finished our big meal about 2PM and I was so full, I didn't want another bite before bedtime so body had an extras 5 to 6 hours to digest everything before I stepped on the scales. Whatever, I'll take it!
