Default Cucumber Lassi!

Cucumber Lassi

This makes a delicious drink for breakfast. It really is a meal for me, because it has sufficient protein and fat. This would not be the case with “regular” plain yogurt. You need to use this brand, or a yogurt with a similar nutritional breakdown. Another brand of plain, Greek style yogurt would also work, if it has enough fat. Accompany this with a hard boiled egg or two if you need more protein.

1 C Fage Yogurt (plain, full fat)
1 small cucumber, peeled and cut into chunks
(I like the Persian cucumbers, available at Trader Joe’s)
1/2 tsp chopped fresh ginger root
1 small clove garlic
dash of salt
1/2 C ice
mint for garnish, if desired.

Crush ice in blender. Add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Garnish with mint. Serves 1.

Nutritional breakdown per Fitday:

Fat: 10.3g; Carb: 12.5g, Fiber: 1.2g; Protein: 19.1g; Cal: 214
Net carbs: 11.3

Sorry, I just saw this. Yes, you can use any kind of plain yoghurt, but most brands are higher in carbs, and don't have enough fat and protein to make it a meal.

thank you!
How do I influence the level of carbs and fat with our own milk? it is about 3.8 percent fresh... But I don't really know about the yoghurt as I say it is from our two cows so not very scientific
I never buy branded yoghurt... don't trust industrial milk.

Oh, I see! Wow, milk from your own cows! How wonderful.

I would make the yoghurt from whole milk, including the cream, to start. Maybe you'll need to add a little extra cream to up the fat content.

Here is the nutrition page for Fage plain yoghurt.

Let us know how it turns out!
