Did you toast them, Bette? I find that makes them less flimsy.

No, we didn't toast them since we don't like toasted buns with our burgers. I've gotten some soy protein, more protein and less carbs than whey protein, and I'm going to play with the receipe and see if I can make a sturdier product.

I accidentally bought chocolate flavored soy protein. I suppose I could make a breakfast or dessert bread with it.
I made spaghetti sauce tonight and put a ladle of it on some of this bread. Quite excellent. My brother, the fussy eater, isn't gobbling it down but at least he hasn't refused it either.

So tonight for dinner we finished off our Wendy's Apple Pecan Chicken salads (very delish with the cranberries and blue cheese). For dessert I made the bread with chocolate soy protein and then put a couple of tablespoons of softened cream cheese on top. Chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting - OMG it was sooooooo good.

These recipes may save me from eating flour bread. It's getting colder and I'm craving soup and warm bread like crazy. I haven't had any cravings for sweets all summer and then BAM, I want comfort food. Or rather, I want autumn food. So I'm off to try these. And the ingredients aren't that odd! Thank you.

Default It's perfect

The very first recipe on this thread is perfect! The flax seed flour gives me my grains hit and the flavor of flax is strong enough to overcome the egg flavor. And it's so fast! Three minutes and I have two slides of bread. Thank you!

It is very high cal, but I don't care. Delicious. Thank you.

Don't over cook. Mine was left completely dry and crumbly. Didn't work so well.

I've tried the Chocolate Muffin in a minute version of this so I know it will work and I'm so excited to try it!

http://www.food.com/recipe/very-low...rger-bun-229625

2 tablespoons melted butter
pinch of salt
1 big egg
4 tablespoons flax meal
1/2 tsp baking powder

Mix well in a bowl the size you want your bun to be. Nuke 1 minute or until centre has set. Cool, halve and fill.
There are only around 2g of carbs in this bun between the flax & baking powder, so it's a good fall-back if you're sick of eating burgers with nothing around them!

No oil at all?
