I don't think I've ever seen slim/fit people, people at their target weights, eating pork rinds and/or fried fatty foods regularly (even if non-carb.) Or sour cream, bacon, etc regularly. That's why I'm reading Taube's book right now! Thanks for the suggestion. As a hypoglycemic with diabetes in the family... who is also at a hormonally risky middle age... I think I need this as a lifestyle.

Maybe after reading the book, it will enlighten you and you will embrace this WOE. Look at it another way... do you eat steak, pork chops, hamburger? It's no different...meat in another form that doubles as a tasty snack resembling crackers or chips. And all guilt free.

It might take awhile before you can wrap your head around the changes in thinking. We've been fed so much nonsense over the years.

I've been low carb for many, many years now and I still don't eat many pork rinds though.

the pork rinds? or the sour cream/cheese?

Just wondering. I can see where pork rinds could not be part of your WOE for religious purposes...

I've been LC off and on (more on than off) since 2002. I rarely if ever eat pork rinds and when I do have them, I always end up throwing out at least half the bag---I eat a few and then just don't want anymore. Haven't had them in forever....I just have to be in a certain mood.

As for the sour cream or cheese...that's a different story.

Perhaps after you've done some research you'll feel more comfortable with this WOE instead of relying on your present ingrained beliefs regarding fat and meats.

In terms of PCOS....THIS is the way to eat to improve the plethora of issues associated with PCOS. THIS is my first line prescription for ALL my PCOS patients because many times there can be improvement if not resolution without the need for prescription medication for those individuals who are committed to plan. Progress not perfection.

Come to think of it, I've never seen a morbidly obese person eating pork rinds either! They're usually noshing on chips, hamburgers, cookies ... hey, just a minute ... those are all high-carb foods!

You must live where pork rinds are easily obtainable, like the Carolinas. Up here in the Canadian Northland, they are rare beasts. We have to get on our snowmobiles at dusk and go hunting for them. We send smoke signals about sightings. Then we shop and we stalk. When we finally bag some rinds, we take them home to our igloos and munch them under cover of darkness.

I guess that's why you've seen obese people eating pork rinds and I haven't.

It's more likely the soda they're chasing the pork rinds with that's causing the weight issues!

So what is it? You don't fancy eating them, or you can't? If you can't due to the "religious grounds", then why go on and on? What's your point?

In the great white north we also eat whale blubber. Now THAT's a delicacy!
