Default Where Do You Buy? (Vancouver BC)

I have read a number of recipes that call for special syrups or certain types of flour. Just wondering if anyone knows of a good place in the Vancouver BC area to purchase low carb products or do most people just purchase on line? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

A lot of us us www.netrition.com and www.carbsmart.com to buy all our low carb supplies. They are both good suppliers, have good specials and ship quickly.

If you are talking about sf coffee syrups(davinci?) then you can find at a cash and carry, like hy louie. I think they are just under $6 a bottle there. OR if you go down to the states(my friend picks them up for me when she goes) you can get for like $3.50 a bottle down over the border.
As far as flours.. ground almonds I find in the bulk area of PriceMart(Save On Foods) Super cheap too!!
Other flours have been tricky to find though.. I did find coconut flour at a local health store.. but have been seaching for months now after the business with under.. well I had to order online..

The customer service at thelowcarbgrocery.ca is great. They will only ship products that travel well. They even have certain days they won't ship certain products because the weekend delays the process. Give it a try, they really are very good.

One of the best sources I know of for almond flour and God knows how many other things is:

Galloway's Specialty Foods 702 SIXTH AVE NEW WESTMINSTER

This is across the street from the mall - which is where I tend to park. The almond meal/flour is in bulk and they serve you. I get 2 lbs at a time. I have never looked for coconut flour, but I bet they have it AND they will check the info for you if you have any questions. Well worth a looksee. The store has been around forever.

Edit: Just found this - a vegan store in New West (link is to coconut flour page):

I didn't know Galloways had a New West location! I've been to their Richmond and SW Marine Drive location and their coconut flour is found in the cooler.

I've also seen coconut flour at Whole Foods on the shelf.

I get almond flour from Save on Foods.

Does anyone happend to know if the places listed in the thread (or any other places for that matter)...carry 'vital wheat gluten'?

I saw a low carb tortilla recipe that requires that ingredient.

Thanks!

Give Galloway's a call - the New West location is (604) 526-7525

Don't know where you are located..

Actually, you can check Save On Foods too.... I believe they carry Bob's Red Mill brand in their Natural Food section.
