When was the last time your notifications were reset? I've disabled that 4 days ago.

::chuckle:: Oh, it just always does it, Wa'il. Here's what happens: last time I looked, the "notification" box was unchecked, and the boxes for every one of my threads were unchecked. So I checked the notification box, and that checked all the individual boxes. I do that every time i'm here. Now, after reading your question, I found my "notification box unchecked. I checked it, which checked all the boxes. To test that, I navigated away, and back. All boxes were again unchecked.

This sounds like a browser/java script issue, and not related to our email server problem. What browser/version do you use?

I use IE6, and installed the latest free Java update within the past week, Wa'il. The reason I think the notification problem may not be caused independently by each individual who has it, is that we all stopped receiving notifications at the same time, beginning of May. Thanks for your continuing interest.

The really strange part is that it seems to be just some servers - not all. My Shaw.ca address seems to not accept these emails - gmail does! It's not particularly convenient to have another address to check, but it's better than missing emails and it seems to be working! Plus, thanks to Doreen, I'm back in with my proper ID!

By the way, I use version 3.6.3 of Firefox plus Mailwasher Pro 6.3

Test with a different browser, such as Firefox or Opera to see if this is a browser issue.

The emails maybe arriving, but some ISP's may place therm into the spam/junk folder. Check to see if any of our notifications have gone to the junk folder.

Hi Wa'il,
I did just that when this whole thing first started. None of the emails were in my ISPs junk file at the server or my personal junk/spam file.
My original emaill adress won't allow me access back to the forum so I too, am having to use a different email address to get my notifications.

This all began around the 5/4 date of site maintenance.

Sorry to be causing you grief over this. I'd really much rather be using my original email adress...if that's possible.
Thanks!

The response about ISP/junk folder is only in regards to today and yesterday. The past week or two, there was a problem with our email server, and this has now been fixed. i.e. members are now getting email notifications (or at least, our server is sending them out correctly for the last 24 hours).

Checking that has become automatic over the years even though I have my "Mailwasher" set to show me everything - I'll decide what's junk and/or spam. Anyway, I checked again both on the server and in my in-box - nothing there!

The last times I tried with my shaw.ca address was yesterday evening and this morning. That's when I finally logged out and re-registered with a new name because I couldn't get responses to my emails to the webmaster (is that you?). I presume I was being answered, but the answers weren't getting through to me.

I'd be the last person to insist that the problem isn't at my end, but Shaw says that it's not a problem with them. They're usually very helpful when there's any kind of problem, so I have no reason to not believe them, but I could have gotten a lazy technician on the phone! It just seems strange that there are as many of us as there are who are having the same problem - all with different ISPs.

Yes thanks, I'm getting all my notifications since I switched to a gmail email account. I got nothing with my shaw.ca email address. In fact I was getting them all earlier when I activated a gmail.com address - when you said you thought the problem was fixed, I tried to switch back to my shaw.ca address and never did get the activation emails. That's when I had to re-register with a new name and my gmail address to be able to communicate with the site at all! I'm afraid to try again with a shaw.ca address! I'll work on making the gmail address more convenient.

Thanks so much for all you efforts in trying to solve this problem - it must be very frustrating for you! And do you ever sleep?!!

I meant the problem where you set your subscriptions to instant, then re-visit the page, and they are set back to no e-mail. That part is a browser problem. Arrival of emails is an email server issue, either on our side, or the ISP side.

So, edit your settings again, with firefox, and let me know if it still clears your selection, or if they stick.

I don't use Firefox myself, Wa'il. I mentioned it because Glenda mentioned that she uses it. Email notifications stopped arriving for her, and me, and other people, all at the same time in early May. We've determined directly that the problem isn't with our ISPs. Logic says it isn't with our browsers either, since at least two browsers - IE and Firefox - were in use when we stopped receiving email notifications. Thanks for your continuing interest and efforts, Wa'il!
