Default stove top zucchini casserole

I made this (experimenting with the abundance of zucchini from my dad's garden) and found it to be quick, simple, and delicious, so I thought I would share.

1/4-1/2 onion, sauteed
1 lb. ground beef
garlic salt, to taste (I use garlic sea salt, a few twists does it)

Brown meat with the sauteed onions and garlic salt.

add:
zucchini (large or small, cut into cirles or half circles)
a bit of tomato sauce (or diced tomatoes)

Cover and cook until zucchini is soft, stirring ocasionally. Top with choice of cheese and enjoy! (good reheated). BTW, I don't add water, since the zucchini gives off a lot of water, that is why I cover it, and cook over med.-low heat.

I wonder if this would work as well with shredded zucchini?

I think the zucchini would cook quickly, but why not? I definitely wouldn't add water, though!
