Quick and easy Asian Inspired Marinade (beef, chicken, whatever)
I'm guessing at the proportions because I rarely measure stuff.
1/2 Cup soy sauce
1/4 cup of water
About one inch of ginger, freshly sliced into 5 or so pieces.
Onion powder (about 1 tsp) or half an onion minced finely
2 cloves of fresh garlic (minced or pressed or grated)
Sweetener (equivalent to 2 tsp of sugar)
1 tsp of seasame oil
[optional] Red pepper flakes
Marinate your meat for at least 4 hours. When removing from marinade you might want to leave the big pieces of ginger behind (or not... I actually cook and eat them too).
This reminds me a bit of Bulgogi (Korean).
I marinated some flank steaks in this and they cook up about 2 min per side. Then I either just eat them like that or chop them up for salad.

Reason: Added the ginger for you. ;-)
