Patrick ... I've merged your fitday question and the replies .. in with this Mother of All Things Fitday thread that Marlaine started up.

That way the info is all in one place, and will be helpful for others who have the same questions.

I tryed to add eggs to the list and the put me at 1 cup of eggs witch was over 400 calories, But all I wanted was a measurement for 2 eggs???? I am trying to add a recipe breakdown in it. you can change the amount where it says cup to large egg (or whatever) by clicking on the button right beside where it says cup. It's just like the way you change the amount to say 2 instead of 1 (egg) If this doesn't make sense let me know and I'll try to explain it better.

Okay......I'm posting a pic below and I'll explain it referring to that.

The columns going across are: Food Name, Servings, Serving Size, and so on.

You can change the quantities in both the Servings column and the Serving Size column.

In the Servings column, just highlight and delete the number that is there and then type in your correct number. It will take a decimal up to three digits. For example, 1/8th of a cup is .125 cup. Save your changes by clicking on "Save Changes".

In the Serving Size column, if you click on the little arrows beside the quantity, a menu will open up. Just click on the right option for you. Save your changes by clicking on "Save Changes".

Hope this makes it a little clearer.

Thanks for the note Do and for making the move. LOL...I was reading through the thread and was wondering why I didn't get a notice about Patrick's question, since I'm subscribed to this thread so that I keep an eye on it.

Good idea to move it here.

Patrick....

I assume you are on a Windoz machine, but on the outside chance that you are on a Mac, you can take a screen shot of anything that is on your screen and save it.

To take a screen shot on a Mac press Command/Shift/4 and click and drag the area of the screen you want to copy. When you let go of the mouse the shot is taken.

Also, several of the reports do go back as far as a year.

Question

I was wondering if there is a way
to enter any vitamins or supplements
I take so that their contribution to
my nutrition will show up in the
"Am I meeting my nutrient requirements?"
report?

Hi there......

You could try entering it under "New Custom Foods". I didn't experiment to see if you can create a food with 0 Calories/0 Carbs/0 Protein and 0 Fat, but if not, you may be able to do it by adding in "1" for each of those.

Unhappy

There's a bit of a problem entering vitamin and mineral supplements in fitday ... Unfortunately, it doesn't permit you to enter the actual milligram amounts of the nutrient, only the % RDA that it represents. This is fine if the package provides this information, but impossible if it doesn't.

Otherwise, you could sit down and calculate the % RDA for yourself, then enter the result as a custom food.

[I originally posted this in a new thread, then found this one. But I'm apparently too stupid to delete that useless thread I started - my apologies to the moderators!!!]

I read several posts on this board about fitday.com, went to check it out, and dove right in. But I immediately hit a snag... I needed to create a "Custom Food" for a CarboLite Crispy Caramel Bar (which are FABULOUS, by the way), and couldn't get it to work. This bar has zero "net carbs" because all 17 grams are sugar alcohols. Here's the dilemma: if I put in 17 grams of carbs, my carb count and ratio would look way too high. If I put in 0 grams, it won't accept the food because the calorie counts don't add up. Help???

Mhopkins.....

I'm not sure that I understand about sugar alcohols not being counted as carbs???

Marlaine - it says on the packaging (and in my Atkins book, too) that certain sugar alcohols don't count as "net effective carbs" or "carbs for Atkins" because they don't have an impact on your blood sugar. Or some such (the science escapes me pretty frequently). Did I imagine that? (Lord, I hope not, because I'd be in big trouble!) -Michelle

Michelle......

I did a little checking around and found this article by Doreen:

Hopefully, you will find the answer you need there.

Thanks so much for finding that link, Marlaine!! I guess I must just fall on the lucky side of "YMMV," because I eat that stuff like crazy and still lose. It probably wouldn't hurt to cut back anyway, though (as always, if it's too good to be true...) Thanks again, and have a great day!! -Michelle

Thumbs down FitDay.com

I just joined here and am very confuzzled abt trying to put a recipe in to get a breakdown on the servings. It is hard to believe that no other site has something "free' for us to use!
