It's not like I have such a busy social calendar that I'm not completely flexible...... Oh, wait a second - WHAT SOCIAL CALENDAR????? That would imply I have a life ROFLOL...... j/k

Any time Mischa and the rest of you are free is good for me.

Ha, Julie, you are a hoot--I'm right there with you ROFLOL'ing!!! Although YOU are at least consorting with Mick and the boys--that counts as "social", doesn't it?

Anyway, how about if we go ahead with this time and date and try for next time with Mischa and any other Victorians we can scare up. That's my suggestion, anyway.

TTYS,
Anny

I agree that we should go ahead with the planned lunch. We can involve Mischa in the planning of the next one.

I think the word would be "concerting" rather than "consorting" - although consorting sounds like more fun!!!!!!!

Hey, Glenda, if I started listing the concerts I've missed, I'd need to start my own blog! (and another one for all the plays, movies, etc., etc.) I don't even remember the last concert I went to. Jeeze!!! No rest for the wicked, I guess....I have GOT to get a life!!!!!! No consorting here, and none on the horizon.

Ok, so it seems like this little club of ours is in agreement that we need to get lives, go to concerts, consort more.....

In an effort to do some of this I entered the Monday Magazine contest for a makeover. My charming daughter suggested that a new haircut, colour and style would be in order. The ad said to explain why I deserve a makeover so... drum roll please.....

Here is my entry (with phone numbers removed of course!):

Dear Monday Magazine,

Here's why I need a makeover…… I am 39 years old with an almost 18 year old daughter whom I frequently embarrass with my boring hairstyle and bad colour job and my sad excuse for a casual wardrobe (who says Disney sweatshirts aren't cool?).

She tells me that I need to update my look as I have looked pretty much the same for her whole life. I am also told that I should learn to use make up properly and do my nails a little more often (once a month isn't enough?).

Next July I turn 40 and I need to do something before then to not LOOK 40 when I get there. I'd also like to be mistaken for one of the graduates when I go to my daughter's grad ceremony in May.

When I graduated high school in 1984, I weighed 235 lbs. I am down to a much more sensible ~145 these days and really want to show it off. I had laser eye surgery last year to get rid of the coke bottle glasses. I'd love to live vicariously through my daughter at her grad and look up to date and "cool" - even by her tough standards.

I can be reached during the day at xxxx or in the evening at xxxx.

HELP ME!!!!
_______________

My office mates fell off their chairs when I read it to them.... Hope I win!

Julie

Julie, if that story along with the weight loss doesn't impress them enough to pick you, I don't know what will! It sure impresses me!! Fingers and toes crossed here for you (anything you'd like me to cross? maybe the judges' palms with silver??)

Well, I'd pick your story, and I think your daughter must deep down be very proud of you to want to show you off even more! Are you supposed to send in a "before" pic, too?

ps: with your frame, I can not imagine you at 235, honest to g*d!

They didn't ask for a b4 pic, thank Goddess! I only have one from waaaaaaaay back then and it's BAD!

Tanya is pretty proud of me... she's a good kid.

When I was 235 I was shorter than I am now too! I grew 2" after finishing school!

right on, Julie, you are an inspiration! maybe we can start a letter-writing campaign to Monday mag or a tent city outside or something.

BTW, isn't a before pic SUPPOSED to be "bad"? the badder the better!
