Default Sweet Pickles

Get a quart of cheap dill pickles. Drain the juice and pickles out of the jar and into strainer. Rinse the pickles and the jar well to get rid of as much dill taste as possible. Stuff the washed pickles back into the jar. Mix together, 1/4 cup vinegar, and alot of splenda. Pour this mixture over the pickles in the jar. Shake jar of pickles and mixture good. Then finish filling the jar with water until the pickles are covered. Screw the lid back on the jar and shake the pickles again, then turn the pickle jar upside down in the refrigerator, shaking when you think of it. After 24 hours, they are ready to eat. The longer they stay in this mixture the better they become. They will be cold, crisp, and sweet, good for chicken and tuna salad or to eat right out of the jar. This method can be used for fresh cucumbers as well.

I used 1 cup of splenda and they seem pretty sweet to me.I had my doubts it would work, but it did.

I love this, have done it, but I add tabasco sauce to the sweetened pickles, but don't put vinegar, just leave a little brine. Quite a bit of tabasco.

Hot and sweet, a real treat! Tastes good with cheese and eggs, for some reason, like breakfast quiches.

satin moon: do you think that soaking the dills in cold water in the fridge for a few hours would remove more of the dill taste?

Then you could put in pickling spices and the rest of the ingredients for sweet pickles?

Thanks

Deb
