Well, have a good workout tomorrow. Is it bicep day?

Wanda
I know I was so looking frward to testing it that way. Right now I'm just approimating based on my last one. I hate unknowns.

Oh, didn't know Sudbury had one. I would be so scared of the tank thing. I should call her back, maybe she was busy during the first few weeks of school.

I think I'll do hams and biceps tomorrow.

Hi Wanda

Quote:
TSH: 2.08
Free T3: 3.9
Free T4: 11

I need to see the reference ranges for the Free T 3 and 4 to make sense of the results.

For the TSH, the new standards are that any TSH over 2 is low, that 'normal' is actually a very small range between .5 and 1.00.

Please post your Free T 3 and 4 ranges for me ok?

Maggie

Hi Wanda

You're right. Your T3 is low.

Did you read the Wilson's syndrome website? I think this protocal might help you. It basically resets your thryoid horomones so that more of your T3 is active as opposed to inactive. If you wanted to spend the money, you could get a reverse T3 test to confirm that this is actually the problem. Did you say your doctor can do this? If not, there are several labs out west that offer this test.

Let me know what you decide.

From my eyes it looks obvious that this is the problem

Good luck!

Maggie

Hi Wanda

I bought a book, called Wilson's Thyroid syndrome, by E Dennis Wilson MD. I'm pretty sure you can buy it off the www.WilsonsThyroidSyndrome.com website.

How I understand the treatment is this:

I go off all thyroid meds for 3 days. I take alot!

Then, I start with a 7.5 mg dose of time released T3, twice daily, exactly 12 hrs apart. This for 2 days, gradually increasing until I have and hold an AM temp of 98.6. Once I can hold this temp for a number of days, I slowly start weening myself down, all the while trying to maintain an AM temp of 98.6.

Usually it takes a few cycles before we're able to hold this temperature.

It takes one month for all the T3 (when you're taking meds) to be removed from your body. Since T4 is where reverse T3 comes from, the first cycle can take up to one month.

Obviously, balancing other hormones is important. I'll probably be using a progesterone cream for the second 2 weeks of my cycle to balance my estrogen.

I also have high cortosol and high DHEA, so I'll probably be on a supplement to bring my cortisol down.

Reducing all stress, both physiological and physical is important. The body doesn't differenitate between physiological and psychological stress, so stress management and lightening up on workouts is important.

I'll be adding more carbs. Below 60, the body likes to make reverse T3, so I'll probably up them to zone levels and reduce my fat

This is all a leap of faith for me because I am able to finally lose weight and feel fairly normal on my current meds, but I want to see if I can get off meds, and deal with my other hormonal issues as a goal of better overall health.

The drug used for Wilson's is time released T3, compounded specially for 12 hr doses.

I can't think of anything else.

If I do I'll post back.

Good luck with your doctor!

Maggie

Wanda, thanks for the info on Schwartzbein. I have her first book, and it's good. I didn't know her new book was out. I might look for it.

Have a great night!

Wanda, thanks for the link I did read through it all

Looks like I'm insulin sensitive, which is good I guess, and possibly adrenal exhausted (in the beginning stages).

I'm afraid if I eat 20 gms of fruit/starch per meal, plus 2 snack, I'll gain weight.

However this is exactly what I'm going to do once I'm on Wilsons. I'd better go slowly with it.

I will buy the book if I see it here.

Thanks Wanda

Maggie

I am feeling extremely frustrated:

Gym was mostly empty. They are doing reno so people might be frustrated about that. So I decide this is aperfect time to try the squar rack since noone is around there. Anyway. I load it up with assorted plates after approximating the bar I ask them they don't even know so I just say 15 lbs and then I pile it up to 65lbs including the bar. So I go get the clip squeeze things that you put on and for the life of me I could not squeeze the frickin' frackin clips on. I am so frustrated I want to scream but of course I can't so I gotta go back to the 50 lbs premade barbell because the 60 lbs one I can lift above my head yet. I am so mad at myself. And there was none of the guys there to ask to put it on. God I feel hopeless!

Hi Wanda

Thank you for the Thanksgiving picture!

Did you see your doctor? If so, what happened? I'm curious....

Hey Wanda!

Quote:
I hope to be back soon to my workouts within the next day or two, just starting with lifting before I add in cardio. I'm really hoping my thyroid meds will make things much easier. I hate this feeling of my muscles turning to mush.
can't wait for you to be back at it. What are you going to take for you thyroid. You're eating enought so hopefully it will preserve the muscle you have and the rest will probably help too.

Sweet dreams
