Default Forum upgrade this morning

Hi folks,

There was significant problems with the forum upgrade this morning, so we had to restore the old version back, until these problems are resolved.

Unforunately, the data restoration means missing a few posts made this morning, from 5 am est, this Sunday.

I apologize for any re-typing you have to do

Wa'il

Bummer. It seemed to be working well from my end. Was it the browser inconsistancies?

No, although it was a problem, it was not that serious, and could have been fixed without abandoning the upgrade. There were few more serious problems in the database and server load, and I decided to abandon the upgrade, until the problems are investigated and resolved.

WOW, I am sorry you are having such problems. There is a lot of potential in the new software. I hope this doesn't cause you a huge headache.

Unhappy Sorry to hear that.

Dang.
Poor Wa'il, after all that job.

Still, I'm glad to see the profiles back to the left...

(But now there's a problem with clicking on the smilies... it makes the site jump instead of putting in the right code... oh dear... computers, huh...)

Hmmm ... yep, I get this too, when I click on the "Standard Smilies".

I notice when I hover my mouse over any of the standard smilies, this is the url link that shows in my status bar ... http://forum.lowcarber.org/newreply...te=1&p=2014364# ... obviously would be different post ID# for each occasion and poster.

The links from "show all smilies" box don't work either. The link shows as http://forum.lowcarber.org/misc.php...lies&wysiwyg=0#

FWIW, I use the Standard Toolbar not the WYSIWYG.

By the way, here are a couple of other (Swedish) forums which just changed their program ware and then customised the layout... (They originally got the same initial "layout" as LowCarber had earlier today, when upgraded...)

http://99musik.com/forum/
http://www.plannine.net/flum/

Not that it's of any significance, just examples of how some folks dealt with the design/layout of avatars etc in the new surroundings..

This is a new feature in vB3, called "legacy style", and it can be turned on or off by the admins.

Hopefully we'll resolve the problems we encountered, and should try it again on another "calm" weekend

Oh, you're thinking of the first link? Yes, they've experimented with some horror wall paper in the background that most members decided against.... lol... so most people use the "original setup".. (http://99musik.com/forum/?styleid=1 ?) - with tons of tweaks, of course...

I really do prefer having the pics on the left. One the sites Gilibel mentioned managed quite a nice layout.

(Now let's see Ian... how much did I owe you?...)

BTW, the html-commands don't work anymore... Have to do formatting manually...

That's not new We've had them disabled for a long time, due to security issues.

LOL. Security issues?!

"Long time"? I used them this morning...
I'm talking about being able to mark some text and then go up in the menue and chose "bold" or "size 7" or whatever... Are we talking about the same thing here? (Maybe I was not very clear in my earlier post, foreigner as I am and hence misunderstood...)

You said HTML-commands, and those have been disabled for over a year, due to the possibility of embedding java script code.

I take it you mean WYSIWYG editing tool bar? Those use vBcode. I'll take a look.
