Cool Phase II

Hi all,
I am now in Phase II of the South Beach Diet and have been for quite a while. I started supplementing the "good carbs" back in to my diet in the form of vegi's however I've been ...scared to start eating other carbs like brown rice, whole wheat bread or even oatmeal. Small quantities make me so full that it feels like I am putting weight on again.
Any advice?

Well Agatson talks about this very thing as being the kind of attitude that can contribute to failure on the diet over the long term. He says that the whole point of this plan is to allow for real life. And by denying yourself certain foods you are setting yourself up for unreastic eating goals and thus getting sick of the program and going off.

good point...I thought about that when I got home last night. In order to make this a life style and not a "diet" I need to slowly get past my fear of carbs!!!!
Thanks!

I will admit that I am really really scared of the carbs too. I am really going to make my portions super small at first and experiment with different brands/types.

I think that it is very important to start off small and find out what gives u cravings and makes u more hungry....I have slowly been adding stuff back in and testing the waters to see what works! Keep up the great work!!

Loving life on the beach!!

Nikki
