Talking Booze

Hi

I'm new to this - have been doing Atkins and am almost at the end of my induction.

I'm dying for a pint, however not quite sure which lagers (draft or bottled) to drink.

The Carb Counter says lager has 'trace' carbs. Can anyone please help?

My local sells Carling and Carlsberg.

It's really a YMMV thing with booze. Beer does have carbs in it...I would guesstimate that a pint of decent lager has at least 10 carbs. Pilsner would have less, and bitter would have the most, maybe 25 carbs or so to a pint. But that's just a guess. I've never been able to find any carb count info on beer...and in any case, although I do like to drink, I hardly remember what beer tastes like anymore. I just don't want to spend the carbs on it so I go for wine or vodka, or bourbon if I'm feeling really naughty. Many people find that beer is a problem for them (in terms of stalling), while other alcohols are not. But some people have no problem at all, and happily drink beer every night while losing weight. You have to experiment and see what it does to you.

There have been quite a lot of posts about this topic in this forum. Here are some links that I obtained by doing a search.

Millerlite

Michelob beer

Smarter than your average beer

Booze!

I think that larger does have quite a few carbs. You could check it out using Sainsbury's to You or Tesco online ordering systems.

Default Thanks

Thanks for your replies.

I'm still not sure if I'm any the wiser, I've done so well, bring on day 9 and having lost 11lbs, I'm a bit scared to do the trial and error thing just yet - I hope to stay on induction for as long as I can, I'm really enjoying Atkins and I'm only missing my pint!

P.S. lburnikell - I'm from Sunderland too! - Middle Herrington.

I had the same questions while doing Atkins. I'd go with the Miller lite, I think it only has 7 carbs. I used to drink so much beer but am afraid to start again. COme to far to go back. I didn't give up on all the booze though. I drink vodka, gin or a little wine(wine not too often, has too much sugar) because it only has a trace, which to me means less than 1 gram. Please correct me if I'm wrong please. I haven't had a drink though this week because I'm testing the theory for me to see if it does affect weight loss & also being that I really want to loose my gut after 3 kids , one 8 months ago, I want to see if I notice the difference. Good luck to you & everyone............
