hey btdude,

thanks for the info. I have another question, I don't eat meat, only fish, is the CoQ10 helpful in this case? also what is similar to CLA, if there is anything?

cheers, enjoy your pills

CoQ10 is an anti-oxidant enzyme, as is Vitamin C. Both help in regulation of skin, heart, teeth gums, etc. CoQ10 is used to help use fat as fuel. Although, in re-reading that section, I may not be taking ENOUGH! OH YAY!! As to the CLA similarities, I do not know that answer.

Okay...so sounds like I need to take more CLA? My botte of 1000 mg says 1-2 times daily which is only 2000. I have only been taking one a day so far (noon time)...so I may change that.

I also take a vitamin (3 times per day) along with other supplements:
calcium
potassium
Coenzyme Q10
chromium
EFA

I think that's it...talk about pill popping this equals about 10 pills per day!

I tried the powdered form of creatine. It didn't seem to do much and made me sick to my stomach. When I was mixing it with tea or coffee it was ok. I read the directions though and it said water or juice, so I assumed it had to be a cold liquid. AFter trying it in cold liquids I gave up on it.

I currently take
CLA
Cromium
Calcium
Pottassium
Magnesium
One a Day Weight Smart (multi vit)
Fish pills
and yeast fighters when I remember. Those are harder as they have to be done on an empty stomach and I can't use meal as a reminder. I was taking alot more when I started, but popping all those pills got old fast.

I also take stackers before meals.

Was in a health food store talking to the owner today (and yes I found LOW CARB BREAD!!! - in Ottawa this is a rarity!)....and asked about CLA and dosage.

She has heard it works. I told her I was taking 3 a day (or 3000 mg) and she advised for weight loss 4000-6000 mg per day was suggested and 3000 was for weight maintenance.

Anyone else heard this? Can you overdose on the stuff?

No problem cathie - I will ask around....maybe when doing web research I can find something! Sorry to hear you can't get it.

I am taking pill form - have not found any liquid here at all! I did find the kind with Tonalin, which in itself was pretty amazing...pricey tho!

I'm hearing good things about l-carnitine as well?? I think 1500 mg is recommended by Dr. Atkins...next time I'm out shopping I will have look and see (is this a pill or powder stuff?).

Default Low-cost L-carnitine

Hi, Gang,

When I first considered taking l-carnitine, I was hugely discouraged by the cost. But, I decided to wade through all the hits from Froogle, and viola! I found an affordable l-carnitine at the following website:

http://www.doctorstrust.com/

The product can be pulled up there by its catalog number, which is DT1401-2. Currently they're selling a bottle of 60 500-mg tablets for $6.99.

Anyone getting it cheaper somewhere else? Penny-pinching minds want to know!
