Talking New Low Carber in Washington state with question

Greetings, all!

I just stumbled upon this site and all I can say is "WOW!" What took me so long to discover this? Great support and excellent information. I have been LCing since 6/1/01 when my doctor asked me to try it to help lower my blood sugar levels. Since then, I've lot 20 lbs and my glucose readings are the lowest they've been since I was diagnosed with Type-2 Diabetes in 1994. Feeling good and happy to have finally discovered something that seems to work!

I have a question for Karen:

I have just found info on your books, classes and especially your restaurant, The Fish House. Do you offer any low-carb dishes or menus there? (Please say yes!) I'll make a reservation just as quickly as I can dial the Vancouver area code!

Thanks in advance for your reply, and please keep up the great work!

Hi Judy,

Congratulations and welcome to the forum!

It does work! Don't you just love it!

We get low-carbers coming to the restaurant all the time. It warms my heart when we get orders with sub salad or extra vegetables for potatoes! While there are no specific dishes for low carbers, we are always happy to substitute salads and vegetables for the starchy things. The most popular items seem to be our selection of simply grilled fish with lemon butter or Italian salsa verde. The king crab legs are great as an appetizer. Fresh berries are in season now, so they are always available with a big blob of whipping cream!

If you do come, make sure you let me know so I can give you a vegetable plate instead of bread.

Karen

Default Hi, Judy/Silverhawk!

We're having a low-carb BBQ later on this month, if you feel like driving up; check out the 'local low carber' forum.

Glad you like the site; do keep us posted on your progress! So many people with diabetes are finding low-carbing helpful. I'm trying to PREVENT blood sugar problems, as I have diabetes in my immediate family.

Stick around!

Rachel

I would love to attend a low-carb BBQ! Just let me know where and when, and what I should bring, as I assume it will also be some sort of pot-luck? I did check out the "local low-carber" forum for Canada, but I didn't see if the date/time or location was finalized. Please do keep me posted, and thanks!!!http://216.118.73.98/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif
