Default WW plus CAD?

I was just wondering......I know that hellers said not to combine plans and to stay with one plan. But I was wondering if anyone has combined Weight Watchers and CAD, in that first two cms are still below 4 carbs.....and rm would still be a reward meal, but the total points for the day would not exceed the WW points? Obviously, if trying to do both, then protein would probably need to be lower point or rather, leaner, protiens. I do know that WW offers diff. plans now, like vegetarian, or higher carbs, or higher protein.....but I am not interested in joining WW. (I do have their starter books, however).

Today I ate:

CM (BR):
two eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast, instead of regular bacon. turkey bacon nutr. label said no carbs.

CM (lunch) Grilled chicken salad with half package lite balsamic vin. dressing (dressing pk. was four carbs, I ate only half)

RM (dinner) Lean Cuiisne Spaghetti & meatballs
green beans
1 slice wheat bread
one sf fudgsicle
3 small choc. chip cookies

I figured out the points would have been around 27-28 points according to WW. I initially restarted CAD with idea to try to limit my sugars and carbs at rm, kind of like Becca, but am finding I am not very good at not overindulging. So I thought that maybe the point system would help me stay in control during rms.

Any thoughts from anyone?

Roche

Whatever works. However you can stay in control. But you need to get your veggies up. And try to have protein at 12 ounces. Leaner/low fat choices would be fine. CAD is lower fat than Atkins anyway and low fat choices would fit.

Are you hungry during the day? With some protein types, eggs and white meat chicken don't hold them and they wind up hungrier. Perhaps you might eat a heavier meal a little later in the day?

Give the point system a try if you want. Otherwise I would just do CAD with leaner but heavier proteins and lower fat.

Also, see about answering these questions to see what metabolic type you are. That way you can find the plan that works for you with CAD rules to control your insulin.

If you're a protein type, the foods you should be trying to eat are here. http://www.digitalnaturopath.com/da...bolic_diet.html

About protein.....I do like eating eggs in the morning. They can "hold" me for a while.

I'll do as you suggest, try to up the veggies. Most veggies happen to be "free" on WW so it shouldn't conflict. I discovered lite balsamic vinegar dressing at mcdonalds yesterday. I was reading the nutrition label trying to find a dressing that would be lower fat and lower carbs. It was actually very tasty. That will be the tricky part about trying to do points and CAD ---- so I figure if I stay "natural" during cms and eat the processed foods (like baked doritos or lowfat granola bars) during rms, then I could be on both plans.

catch ya later, roche

roche: another board I was a member of in the past has a "resident expert" on this subject. She combined WW and CALP with good success for quite a while. She eventually switched to Sommersizing combined with WW as she wanted to eat more fruit than CALP allowed. She would be able to answer any questions you have.

and post a note attn "Laffingbead".

Best of luck with whatever you decide to try. Keep us posted ok?

Zule: I took the quiz and I'm a mixed type, based on my answers for right now, which would have been different before I balanced my insulin levels

So what does a mixed type mean?

Roche, it took hours, but I finally was able to get registered on this board. I did choose a different user name as the registration form would not allow more than 10 letters. I wanted my usual one at 11 letters.

I am going back to CALP from SS-ing. I am still posting journals in the place you found me.

I had my WW WI tonight and was down .4 pounds. Not much, but I have been on a 5-6 pound roller-coaster since mid-May. I had too many points for dinner, but I think it was ok as a RM.

Hm.....here are my thoughts so far on trying to do ww points and CAD.....all in all, I don't think it is a "bad" idea. But here is the difference I notice in doing CAD before Christmas and CAD last week trying to do points, even if just for a a few days.

I noticed before Christmas - my journal entries mentioned no cravings outside of cms and rms. my only dilema seemed to be diet soda - as usual. anyhow, last week, i did seem to get hungry in between meals. i think switching to lower fat foods during cms might have been part of that......extra lean turkey bacon vs. regular bacon.

i was trying to keep cms low in points so i could eat more points at rm, but even so, i wasn't as satified at my rms as i wanted to be. i know we shouldn't "stuff" ourselves, but it was more difficult to stay with cad because i was hungrier.

anyhows, i think it is good to try and keep desserts low sugar and/or lowfat....that will probably work better for me, but as far as the actual food portions, i won't worry about that. i think i need some of the higher fat/protein foods in my meals to keep me satiated.

catch ya'll later, roche
