Often my children were hungry again before bed.

We had boxes of Cheerios. Until the kids were about 5-7 . Then I pushed better foods. Cheese sticks or an apple a far better option. I had been reading DANDR since before my kids were born, and my kids were never overweight. Lots of outdoor activity, and eating mostly homemade meals.McD was only a rare treat.

Children really need to eat more than three meals a day. My kids could not eat enough to make it to next meal. Recently Ive started to wonder if growing children would benefit more from a higher fatty meat diet.........and fewer fruits and veg.....just a theory.

Got a hearty laugh from this one. Is there no pride or scintilla of a sense of ethics? Food manufacturers go to any lengths to jump on whatever dietary bandwagon is currently popular, in this case, the importance of sleep. The last concern they have before they go to bed is your health. Yep, just grab a bowl of your Fruity Pebbles and sail off to a good night's sleep . . . . . .

That's what gets me most about this, under the guise of promoting health another nail is being put in the coffin. Ethics doesn't come into it at all unless it's the ethics of amassing as much profit as possible. I wonder how the people responsible for this travesty sleep at night.

They think they sleep because they take Ambien. (Turns out that is ALL it does, one is actually still sleep-deprived, and so it is doubly dangerous.)

But it's also part of a general CICO approach that treats 100 calories of banana, rib-eye, or soda as the same thing. That's the kind of advice that led to my eating disorder.

Had I been instructed where to choose my calories, I would have chosen fatty meat and that would have helped.
