Default Another question from newbie I need somthing to help me thru my workout in morning

How can I get enough carbs to carry me thru a intense workout in the morning and to help me so I don't feel tired at work during the day. I tried eating no carbs in morning and could barerly make it thru my workout and by evening I was famish. I feel I need something in the morning to help me get thru work out and thru work but also I want to eat with my family in the evening this is important that we eat together our reward meal any advice. To help me so I can make it thru eating just eggs and veggies in the morning I feel with get old. I thought oatmeal was good for you and I need it to get my cholestrol numbers down. Do most of the veggies have carbs.

Yes, all veggies have carbs, but they have fewer than oatmeal. Those of us who have adjusted to fat burning do not need carbs to fuel a workout. It's a process, though, it can take 6 weeks to become fully acclimated to burning stored body fat in lieu of carbs.

You might enjoy reading Phinney and Voleks' The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance. It is directed at the low carb athlete, but has lots of good info for more casual low carb eaters as well.

How about yogurt? It has a bit more carbs than your standard fare of bacon and eggs for breakfast but certainly not as many carbs as are in oatmeal. Check the labels for a yogurt with the lowest carb count. Fage or a greek yogurt might work.
If your workouts are very intense, having a few extra carbs at breakfast might work for you. But if you aren't losing weight, then you might have to go back to eggs/bacon (or whatever). It's a YMMY (your mileage may vary) type of thing.

hi Niki-
I have read all 5 of your posts. Did you read the book? We have no idea what you are eating or what you ate before starting. There is a period of adjustment to LC, adn it takes a few days.
How hard is your workout and how long are you working out?
There are lots of people on this website who work out- there is even an area about working out! It is listed as THE EXERCISE FORUMS.
It would be a good place to look and learn!
I feel I can't comment on your question - making suggestions- with no information.
