But how do you post a picture within a post? What format does it need to be in?

hi Teri,

Right below the message box where you're typing up your post, you'll see the "Attach File" option. Click on the Browse button to open a menu box to locate the file wherever it lives in your computer. Select the file, then submit your post.

Valid file extensions: gif jpg png txt zip bmp jpeg gif

gif, jpg and jpeg files will appear directly in your post. All other types will appear as a downloadable file attachment.

Note that attachments can only appear at the end of the post.

I figured out how to change my avatar to a picture from my computer but every time I try to attach a pic. to a post it gives me nothing. I even tried the same pic as my avatar just to see if it would work and nothing.....I can post a pic if I use the IMG but i'm trying to post one I have from my scanner (like the one I use for my avatar) what am I doing wrong???? I've tried to find another post where someone has already asked but I see nothing here so it is probably something very obvious (sorry)............

To attach a picture, use the "Attach file" option, which is under the box where you type your message. Choose the Browse button to find the file on your computer, then be sure to click on "Open". That should do it. You don't need to use the IMG button to attach a picture from your computer. That's only for linking to a picture on another website.

I've done all that but when i hit preview it tells me I have to put something in the message field so I do that and hit preview again and all it shows me is what I have typed, not even the box with the x in it. I've tried several different pic's and nothing.

Yes, when you try to submit just a picture attachment, it'll give the message that you also need to include a message. Even if the message is just "."

So, you need to make sure that you have a message (even if it's just a ".") Plus, if it's the first message in a thread, you also need to have a title or header.

When you go to submit after a text change, make sure the attachment info is in the Browse / Add Attachment box. It won't refresh automatically

I sure hope this helps solve the problem.

ok, after I shrunk the pic I got it to do this, why doesn't it just show the pic?

The database will only show pictures if they're in .gif or .jpg/.jpeg format. The other file types will show as a clickable attachment.

Note to readers ... the permitted file extensions are: gif jpg png txt zip bmp jpeg

I've converted your .bmp pic to a .jpg, so it will show in the message. What a cute little guy!!

Yep, that works.

My sister e-mailed my pictures to my hotmail account. How do I take it from there to post in my journal? The easiest thing for me is if I forward the mail to someone in the know, but I'm willing to learn if someone will tell me how to do it step by step.
