Default Just found this place a few minutes ago...

Greetings all...

Just diagnosed with T2D a couple of months ago so it is time to give up the poisons that got me here (gonna miss pizza and candy a lot). I was able to shake the sulfonylurea (glimepirimide) very quickly since my 'most-awesome' physician is supportive of what I am attempting and is very educated regarding T1D and T2D. No insulin injections as they are not needed according to my physician, just Metformin getting me through...and lots of exercise and self-control.

Anyway, I have lost 35 pounds in the last 5 months on the way down from 237 to the 180-185 range in an attempt to get to remission. Just started low-carb this month and like it so far, but until now I have had a hard time finding recipes that alleviate some of the monotony that I have run into.

It looks like I have some reading to do here.

Thanks for the encouragement and the links to the LC recipes, JEY100 and Meme#1.

Since achieving ketosis (I think I have ), my blood glucose routinely 'hovers' in the 85 - 95 range, even after a long day of food. Just crossed the 200-pound mark on the way to 185-ish, a number that I have not seen since high school, and it looks like I am going to have to get new clothes as everything that I had at 237 seems to 'hang' off my frame now.

I'll definitely check out the Diabetes subforum, too. One of the links, dietdoctor.com I stumbled across just before finding this place...that is one helpful site to state it mildly.
