Default DIY Ketone sensor

I am not sure where to post this, so please feel free to move if its in the wrong forum.

I am a little bit of an electronic hack ... and rather good at fitting a round peg in a square hole ... so here goes.

This page below has the proper process.
https://jenslabs.com/2013/06/06/ket...tosis-detector/

Now here is the salient line I am pulling out of that site.

Another application for this device is actually a breath alcohol detector, since the sensor is actually sensitive to ethanol as well as acetone.

So we could buy a commercial alcohol breathalyzer, and see what sensor it has, and if that one is also sensitive to ketones. Past that, we just have to calibrate it. Something like 100 on alcohol = 50 ketones.

I'd do it, but I am moving and I barely spend anytime in my old house where all the equipment is, or its in boxes already.

Thanks.
Srinath.

There's already a ketone breath sensor marketed to low carbers. I don't know much about it but Jimmy Moore tested it and compared it to the blood ketone test strips. You might try googling for that.

Low-carb can read as alcohol.
I guess we just have to caliberate it then.
Thanks.

Accurate alcohol sensors can be pricey about $100

The cheapo ones also sense ketone, the pricey good ones do not. The $10 amazon one is better I've read.
Thanks.
