Cool How much does Curves actually cost?

Hi out there!

I have been considering Curves, we have one pretty close to us. When I called I got the usual gym speech about "we will give you the price after you come in for a visit". I just hate the sales tactics gyms use. I want to join a gym of some sort.

Would anyone who belongs to Curves give me the cost? Is there a contract? Does it vary from location to location?

Thanks in advance - I knew that people on the forum would know this.

Orchid

Thumbs down curves

Dear Orchid, I have seen some people really like curves but it wasn't much good for me. There was an upfront fee to register and then about $40 a month. Here in Canada I have a great gym membership for only $16 a month with no fee to join.

What I really would like is a bow-flex type machine but I don't have the room in my tiny house. Try to find a gym close to work or home and go in and negotiate with them. If it's close you are more apt to use it. Good luck,

HLFAN

I wonder if they would give you a trial membership for a month to see if you like it? There is a Curves really near my house and I thought of joining it cause the gym I belong to (notice I said belong, not go) is way across town. HLFAN has a point about getting someplace that is close to home cause you'll be more inclined to go.

Curves costs me $29 per month (US). I joined when there was a initial membership fee special of $59, which included 2 months of membership. So, essentially I paid only $1 for the initial fee.

The $29 is for a one year contract with the money deducted monthly from my credit card (deduction from a checking account is also possible). If you join on a month-to-month basis, the fee is $39 per month. With the monthly contract of $29, if you quit early, you must pay $10 extra for every month of membership (that is, if you quit early you end up paying $39 per month).

where I live they want 39.95 a month with a 75 dollar membership fee. Yes it's a one year contract here also or if you bail before the year is up you pay a large fee.

Thanks so much for the information! I think I will stick with walking right now and wait for the pool to warm up in May. I would like to join Curves at some point though. I am also checking out the Y. Thanks for letting me know about the fees.

there is actually a special running right now, 1/2 off the joining fee. at the curves i work for, that would make the joining fee 37 dollars and 29 $ a month.

prices are different for different curves, so call around.
its worth going and see the different atmospheres of the curves anyways.
also, ask if they chard sales tax becuase the one i work for does not, but most do.

also, some curves will give you a week free, if you ask for it.
your first visit is always free!
and right now we are running a special--- bring in two milk bottle caps, and get 2 weeks free, no catches.

Default Curves

I joined curves last week. I am very obese and was able to do the entire
course. I love it. The owners are great and very encouraging. It was
$45 to join and round $50 a month. Yes expensive, but I felt this was the only gym I could handle for the moment. I have only been walking but the weight loss slowed down until I joined last week and I am back up to over 4 lbs this week. I live in Canada (Quebec). No matter what you decide to do just keep moving.

Joined curves a couple years ago
not my cup of tea at all.

There was a membership fee - and the monthly fee was around $40 and I was stuck there for a year.

Much better bang for my buck at the local gym (which has a pool) and the membership there is $30 per month
