Question effexor with atkins

I've been on numerous antidepressents in the last few years and I just started on effexor 2 months ago. I was wondering if anyone has had any success with taking that and being on the atkins diet?

Default Where's York, PA?

I've definitely heard of it, but I drive through PA (I mean the whole long state) on my way home from school. I'm from Blue Bell (it's near 1/2 hr. northwest of Phila, near Kingof Prussia and Valley Forge). There are a bunch of PAers on this site. One from Harrisburg and a couple from around Phila.

Just wanted to say 'hi' and good luck,

Erin

I too, am taking an anti-depressant, Paxil. I know that taking any medications will alter the effectiveness of the atkins diet, but how much? Last time I tried this "diet" (that's what it was to me then)I called the tel# ~ the back of the book to ask someone ~ atkins if meds. affect weight loss allI got was a TERSE "yes". Sooooo anyone?
nolly

Default Heres an Idea

I am taking Effexor right now, I am losing weight, Granted not alot, but little by little is better...Keep track of your meds and your weight, sometimes they are prescribed by body weight.

Another thing I asked my Shrink what he thought and he said it's a self esteem issue we all have to deal with, either we are less depressed ot we are heavier, he told me not to be discouraged and to keep plugging along becuase the added benefits of the diet may outweigh the slow weight loss

Exclamation hmmm...

The thing that bothers me the most:

I became depressed partially because I was overweight. I took antidepressants for my depression. Antidepressants make me gain more weight. I become more depressed.

How in the world does this solve my problem??!!!!!!!

Well, i'm going to try the atkins diet with the effexor and hopefully some of the weight will come off. Maybe I'll switch to wellbutrin too... that's not supposed to make a person gain weight (as opposed to effexor).

Why does it all have to be so complicated!!!!!!!? argh!
