Atkins and Sorbee both had sugar free syrups that contained no sugar alcohols. They are much much thinner however as the sugar alcohols thicken up the other sugar free syrups.
Got all the ingredients right and tried this new recipe this morning, as French toast is one of those foods I miss - I make it for my son all the time though and usually sneak one mouthful.
Tasted a bit funky to begin with, but after the first two or three bites - I started to find the similarities rather than the differences between the real thing and the LC one.
Ended up having a yummy breaky. Thanks for the tip!

I bought nutmeg instead
this would taste great too... i always use cinnamon and nutmeg together and sometimes just nutmeg in a custard...this recipe sounds like either or both spices would be great

Vermont sugar free syrup is made with splenda and is delicious! I can't tell the difference between the regualar and sugar free. I buy it at Cracker Barrel.I also found that nuking a little all fruit is fabulous and gives you a big vaiety of flavored syrups. Try pumkin or apple pie spice: it has cinnamon, nutmeg and other terrific tasting seasonings. I use it with vanilla on tons of recipes. I bought Atkins chocolate and vanilla syrups, don't bother, YUCK! Thanks for this recipe, sounds good.
I have made this with cream cheese instead of cream. For 2 eggs, use 2 oz softened cream cheese. Oh, and I skip the salt and add a tsp of Splenda.
I also add both cinnamon and nutmeg, and top it with a sf, no-carb raspberry jam (Walden Farms).
It's wonderful! Now if only I could find a square pan, so it could look like french toast instaed of an omellet or pancake!!
