Default A big Plus for Dr. Atkins.

A big Plus for Dr. Atkins.

Just got back from my quarterly Diabetic check up.

Blood glucose “normal”

HDL/LDL “normal”

Liver function “normal

Kidney function “normal”

Well just about everything is normal. (Mr average)

The nurse asked my what diabetes medication I was taking, I informed her that I was controlling my diabetes with diet. She was ok with that.

After my weigh in she was surprised at my weight loss, once again I informed her that I was watching my diet and eating properly, she is still happy.

Then I told her I was on my modified form of the Atkins Diet, (I won’t eat soy or anything with soy in it)
Her face was a picture; she couldn’t say the Atkins diet was wrong because she had just given me a clean bill of health.
So her only comment was that my diet is good for a quick weight loss, but it all goes back on when I go back to eating normal.
I told her that I am eating normal and its not normal to eat processed foods with trans-fatty acid added sugar added salt or bread with soy flour added.
I eat only fresh or frozen vegetables a variety of meat and fish and some fruit.

So I say another WIN for our WOE/L

Lez

way to go! and way to tell your doctor that this is a way of life and a healthy way of life!

congrats on being so close to your goal-- can u tell me more about how this diet has helped with diabetes? are u type 1 or 11. My parents are BOTH type 2 and i'm trying to get them to give this a go (sometimes, i'm shocked by how unhealthy they eat!) What's your daily menu/calorie intake like?

Great comeback to your nurse. I also have a practice of doctors against Atkins as a WOE. I too hope to present them with a slender, healthy me with a great blood profile very soon.
