Default Home Made "Miracle Whip"

Here's my recipe for home made "Miracle Whip" for those who want to avoid the sugar it the store bought stuff:

2/3 C Mayonaisse
1T Apple Cider Vinegar
1 packet Splenda

Mix well and use exactly as Miracle Whip
Wonderful on BLT's or as a dipping sauce

I made something similar for dipping my hamburger patties in after they are grilled.

2 Tablespoon Mayonnaise
1/2 Tablespoon Mustard
1/2 packet of Splenda

Everyone at my house turns their nose up at it but it is delicious!!

Sounds like it might taste a little like "honey mustard" I really liked that in my HC days. I love my "Miracle Whip" and will probably try yours too. I'm always looking for some way to change things around to keep things from being so boring.

Sometimes when I have a burger, I will put a T of 3 or 4 different sauces on my plate for dipping.

I do this this as well but not to mock miracle whip I guess I add more mustard because it turns out more like a honey mustard taste goes awesome with ham & cream cheese rolls or veggies. I get the same odd looks from everyone around here but I'm used to it.

I will definitely try the apple cider vinegar tip. .

I do a similar thing as a sauce for grilled meats, but use some hot sauce instead of the mustard...

Love this stuff:

I never use manufactured sauces or mayonnaise so googled it. Apparently MW has cornstarch and corn syrup added. There are many recipes of home made miracle whip.
You could try adding sweetner and vinegar and making your mayonnaise using a whole egg with a plunger style stick which should give you a lighter texture than normal mayonnaise;

Oh yeah! I'm already doing all that, apple cider vinegar (for the flavour) plus a half packet of splenda, with a tad of regular french mustard (besides the dry mustard I always use for mayo) and a wee tad of paprika (cause MW has those tiny red flecks that MIGHT be paprika) plus garlic powder, plus ..., plus ....

If I ever come up with something that satisfies me I will post the recipe - until then, I'm open to suggestions!

Have you tried the method where you use the whole egg ? It does really come out lighter. Nothing tastes better than a homemade sauce.

Yes, and I agree - it does come out lighter. And I also agree that nothing tastes better than homemade! Actually, I'm quite happy with the way my mayo turns out, but it still doesn't taste quite like MW.

I've been busy experimenting and have found a perfect mayonnaise. The texture and taste according to my taste buds was near enough perfect. However, I haven't as yet been near a Miracle Whip jar.........so can't compare mine to this magical mystery mayo.

I used 1 whole organic egg plus an extra yolk.

2 tbls French mustard.

S&P to taste.

Approx 2 cups of oil. I used 1 1/2 sunflower and 1./2 carthame and canola/rapseed.

A few spoons of lemon juice;

Place eggs, yolk, mustard, s&p into a food processor. Gently add the oil. At first a few drops at a time then as the sauces starts to thicken in a drizzle. Adjust seasoning and add a few spoons of lemon juice.
