Default Faux Smoked & Salted Almonds

Hi all, wanted to toss this out there. Almonds are one of my favorites in the snacking group. While i like them plain, i love the smoked and salted kind as well, but they are usually only available at much higher price. Anyway, here was a solution that I played with and works well. Just buy the plain raw almonds. If you liked that smoked and slightly salty taste, then toss your snack size (For me usually around 15-20) try this...

Put almonds in a bowl with a half teaspoon of olive oil and about a 1/4 teaspoon of liquid smoke. Mix them around to evenly coat with oil and liquid smoke. then salt appropriately.

Then put on parchment baking sheet or (i use a pizza screen w/out parchment, which allow both sides to cook relatively evenly). Put them in oven on high heat for about 8 minutes. I also have a small convection toaster oven that I use for things like this. Seems more efficient that firing up the big oven for small things. Anyway, the heat also livens up the natural and delicious almond oils.

Give it a try and feel free to comment. I found the savings of about $4 or so a pound + the amount of almonds I eat throughout the year add up and are worth it..

Enjoy,
Rgrandy
