Default Anyone swim?

Just curious. I need to step up my swimming. A little frustrated because losing weight makes swimming harder .

I am always at the pool because I work in aquatics but I've been slacking.

Long ago i was in the pool 5-6 days a week. With the extra weight now, swimming feels weird. I did look for a good suit for this middle aged post baby body, but didnt find one that i felt comfortable with. Then the price of the adult membership at community center is far too much.

I dream of swimming again.....

Have you tried a unitard style swimsuit? Those are really comfortable.

I adore swimming and used to swim several times a week, but after breaking my wrist two years ago I had to stop, and for one reason or another never got back to it. Maybe time to think about again now that I'm into my New Year's Resolution phase. My 9-year-old grandson is on the swimteam and last time I was in the pool with him he beat me by a country mile even after giving me a half length head start! But I'm not in it for speed.

Merpig, you should!

I started doing other stuff to break out of a rut. The other day I treaded with my hands holding barbells up high out of the water as a challenge for 20 minutes. The pool was 90+ degrees and that was tough.

I just need to get back into the laps consistently. I swam a 500 almost every day in the summer just to maintain but I've lost even than.

Couple of months ago I joined in with the other old ladies bouncing around in the shallow end of the pool. Before that, I had always said I'd never be one of those. Previously, I only swam laps, but bad form gave me a hurt back and I gave that up.

Have to say that the aerobic part of the aquatic exercise was surprisingly intense. It was hard work and I was beginning to enjoy it. I could tell a difference in my body composition. However, I have some skin issues and the chlorine made them flare up. Regretfully, I had to stop going into the water.

If you don't have issues with chemicals, I highly recommend water resistance exercise. It's amazing and I wish I could have continued. Have to satisfy myself now with walking, yoga and stretching.

Sensitivity to the chemicals is the worst. It's weird that you hurt your back - was it lower or upper back?

Oh yeah, that's bad. I teach my adults to drop their head far down in the water to relax through the back. Are you not able to put your face in the water? Very common if so.

I bought a snorkel but couldn't figure out how to use it so I gave up the lap swimming. Now it's moot because keeping my face in the chemicals is out anyway.

Not worth it when the chemicals get you. You can save yourself and that's the most important thing. If I remember you are on the coast, right? You can play in the ocean maybe?

There are plenty of other things to do.
