Interesting. I skimmed the story, but it seemed the focus was on manufacturing ketones outside of the body and then ingesting them. The researchers in the article don't seem to be eating or advocating keto as a way of combating illness.

Hopefully the focus on artificial ketones results in more mainstream, scientific acceptance of the keto diet.

Excellent article, and I'm convinced that exogenous ketones will be refined and play a positive role in treating simple and complex health issues. D'Agostino's work in collaboration with Patrick Arnold helps to advance creation of better compounds for human health application. I still feel strongly that healthy individuals benefit from their ability to produce their own endogenous ketones. Future applications of exogenous ketones for specific health and protective reasons is becoming a reality.

For one thing, the endogenous ketones have to fight the effects of a SAD diet, while the ones we have multiply their power since they don't have to do so much mopping up.

Part of the health effect?
