Default Vitamix anyone?

Just wondering how many people on here have a Vitamix? I bought mine like 5 mths ago and it has sat and sat until i just learned to whip heavy cream, splenda, and berries for dessert. I was also thinking of grinding my own almond flour in it....For $500.00 I know I am under utilizing some of the features lol Any other uses that some of you use it for? I'm not too creative, but I love to learn.

I dont have one, so I am not totally familiar with what it can do. I use my magic bullet all the time for things like smoothies, blending marinades, pureeing berries for sauces. I use my hand blender for soups but before I got my hand blender I used my big blender to puree soups.

I've got one of those antique ones, all chrome and a heavy base...I have used it in the past to grind almonds. I kind of hate to admit it, but I'm a little afraid to use it for fear it will blow up or something...!

I do use a magic bullet, a blender (also an antique, an Oster with a chrome base -- I'm a bit of a collector I guess!), a food processor and occasionally, a stick blender (almost an antique, I could use one with more power).

I use my Vitamix (also all chrome with the heavy base) to grind fairly large quantities of cooked meat (not raw - that comes out with a weird texture) and make smoothies. You can use it to grind almonds, but chill them or freeze them first because it runs so fast the meal or flour gets hot. Any large quantities of stuff that needs pureeing (and is too big for an immersion wand) it works well for. I have misplaced the instruction manual (after 10 moves, who knows?) but as I remember all the things it said you can do (except grinding raw meat) worked as stated. I'd probably use mine more if one of my children hadn't lost the knob to change the speed!

use it to grind or puree just about anything. It's the most powerful blender I've ever had.
