Question Dont know where to start!

I am new to this Low Carb program, but have heard about it and seen results through the buzz.. at work. I am the mother of 1 3year old, and I have been putting off dieting with the mindset of...I am trying to get pregnant and why loose weight now if I will just get pregnant and out the window it goes. I have yo-yo dieted for 19 years, and have even included a no protein diet where I had reached my slimmest yet. I weigh 214 lbs and I have 35 pounds to loose, and my husband is a meat and potatoes guy. So i am looking to know where i go and what i do.

I know there are tons of books out there, but I have no time... and i want to start NOW. is there a cliff notes version as I want to begin on Monday.... and since i have somewill power now, i dont want to put it off.

I would welcome any sugggestions or support.

Rebecca

I understand your desire to get started, Rebecca. But Monday is 5 days from now.. plenty of time to pick up one of the LC books and get an idea of what you need to do. And reading one of them is really what you need to do. In the section called "Low Carb Plans" there is a breakdown on most of the low carb options available to you. Read through and see what would mesh with your lifestyle.

Best of luck,
Nat

welcome rebecca! i agree with nat, read up on this way of eating. knowledge is power! it shouldn't be too hard eating this way with your husband. eat the same meat, but don't eat the potato or bread!

Default Thanks

THanks, actually since this post, I was offered the protein power book. Will this one do?

I just dont want to get discouraged from the plan as I am not an avid reader, and dont even like reading.... so I wanted to follow the regemin...I just have to make the commitment to read...that is worse then a commitment to lifestyle change!

Hi Becky,

Protein Power is a great book. Some web sites do offer a lot of help and tips, articles, etc. Ours do as well, if you check the "Tips" sections and "Studies" from the menu above.

However, they are no substitute to a comprehensive presentation, explained in details. Articles tend to focus on one aspect, and for a newbie to just read one summary and try to follow it, they may well jeopordize their plan and success potential by following only one guidline or two, and missing the whole point (the big picture).

As most of us have found out, diets don't work. It's a whole change of eating as a lifestyle and new perception that leads to success. So reading a book or two is the least we can do to investigate a new way of eating we embark upon.

Good luck, and keep us posted.
