I expect a bump tomorrow. This was due to sleeping 11 hours. Okay, have to rent a car today, explore what my ex brother in law told me about a huge recall on my car, and softball practice.

Happy Saturday to you all!

CaCO3 - Wow rough day yesterday. Glad you had a loss, that always helps me stay motivated after an off plan day. How’s your mom doing? Was she able to come home after the ER?

Kit – that’s great to hear you will be hosting bunco next month. Good job making better choices.

CaCO – oh my! What a day! Is your mom ok? You can look up any recalls on your car by looking up the VIN at https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls Good luck with everything! Sometimes the dealership can give you a loaner while your car is in the shop, check there.

Well, saw a sorta new doc yesterday. I had seen her a number of years ago. I was told they would do bloodwork, so I fasted, and then they didn’t do it! Said I have to come back in a month and to do the bloodwork about a week before I see her again. I had a terrible headache from lack of caffeine and not eating. I ate well below my calories in MyFitnessPal, but we had stuffed shells last night and my carbs for the day were 48, not terrible but not good.

She casually said, you know your BMI is extremely obese. I said I knew but in the last year I’ve lost over 45 pounds.

Had a huge drop today and hit a new low, but will likely rebound a bit tomorrow because of yesterday. So close to 50 gone. My 1 yr LC anniversary (this time) is 8/27, so a few days to go. Would love to hit the 50 gone mark by then!

Happy Saturday!

Mom was admitted. Oxygen low, wet cough, those types of things can spiral out of control quick for a person with pulmonary hypertension. While in the hospital she had one of her cases of very explosive diarrhea sadly, her BP usually hangs out at 90/50 and she’s at 70/30; while going to the bathroom her oxygen levels drop to the 70’s (while she is wearing oxygen), and she was out of her IV 24/7 medication for about 6 minutes and somehow her oxygen was off her face and she dropped her oxygen level to 60 something while being still in bed....they aren’t going to be letting her go anytime soon.

They are doing an echo of her heart to see if her congestive heart failure is worse, but I think she is going to be there for at least a few days while she keeps being a medical mystery.

8/24/19= 232.0
8/25/19 = 235.8

And that’s how that works. You low carb for days and the water weight goes away...but if you go back to a carb lifestyle then all the water weight comes back. Only being militant with LC works for me. Oh well, I’m back on LC today. Let’s see how long it takes to drop the water weight again.

CaCO – oh gosh, I hope your mom improves! This sounds so scary!

I’m glad you were LC earlier this week, so the little bump you have from carbs yesterday is a mere speed bump.

Kit – How are you?

Ang – check in when you can. Do the kids start on Monday?

I am the same about losing weight as you are, CaCO. I need to be strict LC. Nothing else works for me. And this week has worked! Thank you CaCO for suggesting this challenge to whip my butt into shape!

I have reached another new low and I’ve lost a total of 50 lbs in less than a year! I am so excited!

Yesterday, I was trying on clothes for hours, to get rid of stuff that is too big for me. A friend of my sister is a social worker and they are having a “shopping day” for their low income ladies so they can get some new clothes. All the clothes are donated. My sister went crazy and got rid of over 10 boxes of clothes! I had already gotten rid of a lot of larger clothes, so I only have a bag of clothes for them. But it all helps. And I got rid of some really nice slacks, so someone else can enjoy them!

Another thing that is exciting, I found 2 pair of slacks I wore when I first starting working where I am now. They were both too big for me! And that was 10 years ago! So I am smaller than I was 10 years ago. WooHoo!

Yesterday I chose to not be on plan at all. I can see how I gained this much weight cause I used to eat like that all the time. Not good. Today is a recovery day and then I’m going to re-start the challenge. (Did I mention I’ve never been good at challenges?)

Sosumi - yay!! Congrats on 50 pounds lost! Nice wooshes!! They are inspiring. How is your energy level? I get so tired when I start to eat clean keto. I take supplements and get plenty of sodium. How long does it take for that lethargic feeling to go away?

CaCO3 - so sorry your mom is having issues again. I know it stresses you out. Tough situation.

Kit - take one day at a time. What would inspire you to focus, since you don't like challenges? Is there something we could do to support you?

CaCO - how did your weekend go? Praying for your mom.

Ang - hoping your foot feels better. Enjoy the kids today!

Heidi - are you back home yet? Would love to hear about your travels!

Kit - It is very exciting to have these whooshes! My energy level is great. I still don't get enough quality sleep. I get to bed too late and the quality of my sleep isn't that good. By Friday, I am pooped! But my thinking is clear, it is only my body that is worn out.

However, when I eat carbs, I feel wiped out and it is difficult to focus. I have way more energy eating LC. I don't drag like I do when eating carbs. It usually only takes 2-4 days for me to feel better eating LC. The same time it takes the body to convert from burning carbs to burning fat.

I am choosing to continue this challenge. I like it! I have a renewed focus.

I have to dash off to work. Decided not to weigh today. I don't want to see any bobble up today! Want to enjoy this new low.

Sosumi - it’s not that I don’t like challenges, I just rarely complete them. I’ve never been at all competitive or athletic. I think that’s why I’m not competitive, because I always lose. Haha. I prefer individual sports like hiking, skiiing, etc. No softball for me.

Anyway - the best way to help me (short of stranding me on an island with no carbs) is to keep on posting those losses. One of these days I’ll grow some self discipline.

Is the first 7 day challenge over? If so, I’m starting on a new one today. I did have a lot of temptations last week that I won’t have this week.

Regarding transitioning to fat burning - I.e. becoming keto adapted - I’ve heard that can take up to 6 weeks.

I’m hanging in there guys, super busy, I’m good for week two of the challenge. Mom is home, she’s exhausted and had a very bad bathroom accident this morning. I didn’t go to work. Car has been towed, it may be free, won’t know until they check the code and see if it matches up with a known recall problem that it could qualify for. Cross your fingers and send me your angels on that one folks! Have to get back to my daughter, he basketball teammate was removed by police today from school, she’s heart broken...and we don’t live in a bad neighborhood but that girl is the definition of anger issues, poor girl. Chemical imbalances just suck!

Only had LC things so far today, wish me luck!

Congrats Sosumi! Kit, join when you can! Hope to hear from others soon!

Okay, I won't call it self sabotage if I have been planning a cheat for 9 months. Today, Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back at Starbucks. It is the ONLY thing I will get from Starbucks, but it is divine, and couldn't be passed up. I even drove my 10 year old daughter to school this morning so we could both get one. It's a bonding thing, but oh man is it NOT low carb! I promise to be super good the rest of the day and hope it doesn't show up on the scale too badly tomorrow.

No word on the car yet.

No word on my son starting his first day of school; he had to be cleared by the mental health people.

My mom is resting and I have her car.

I'm back at work, maybe I can actually relax now, LOL!

Good day yesterday (2 in a row actually) but yesterday hubby cooked dinner and made this yummy recipe: https://www.delish.com/cooking/a222...i-boats-recipe/

Somehow I also got him to watch The Magic Pill documentary about benefits of keto and he’s slowly becoming convinced. We went grocery shopping and he was reading the labels on everything including packaged sliced deli meat and he was astounded to see how so much of even it had starch and sugar added. Didn’t stop him from also buying ice cream though.

CaCO3 - sending good thoughts your way.

I think I’m dehydrated, cramps in my legs really hurt. I’m going to try and push extra fluids today!

Kit, carbs and sugars are everywhere! Has he looked at a bottle of ketchup? That one shocked the heck out of me!
